If you've seen my other blasters, I prefer to do custom looks, but I thought I would give this one a more traditional look.
I used metal for everything that would be metal except the upper receiver. I added the SA binding post and replaced the resin firing pin with an interesting greeblie from the greeblie box.
A bit of polish and some aging and it turned out pretty good. It even kicked the Buck Rogers Atomic Pistol out of its box for a bit.
Thanks for looking!

P.S. Can someone tell me how to show the pics rather than the links?
Thanks!

Thanks Joberg! High praise.
The paint is primer/ Krylon chrome/ flat black / clear coat and wet sand with 2000 grit and clear coat again.
On the metal bits it's an easy: paint/ clear coat/wet sand/ clear coat.
On the upper, I found a great automotive paint that looks like smooth metal after a wet sand and a clear coat.

just put "[img][/img]" tags around the URL and it will show up.

Also. nice work. Especially considering how much of a pain those kits are to work with!

Links fixed. All you have to do is highlight the image url and click the 'Img' button in the message control panel.

Thanks for the help and the praise guys.

Deck: The grips are from the Aussie recast which is taken from a Rick Ross set circa 2000 I believe. They have quite a few bubbles and needed to be flattened on the inside with a belt sander, but they polished up nicely.

Thanks for the info. I would love to get hold of a set of those grips, see what they are like.
If you ever see one or know where I may get the Aussie version, please let me know. I would appreciate it.

You bet, They pop up on eBay quite frequently. You can usually get one for around $60 -$70.

The grips on this kit are really nice. The kit is a lump if $h!t but the grips are well cast and are the larger version.

The Australian recast of the PKD-2 is semi okay here because Rick no longer has the molds or masters of that version of the gun, as he sold them off many years ago. So he has given slight permission for those of us that want that version of the gun to buy one, but it is good to keep in mind that it is still a recast, and will likely have the low quality of one. There is also a slight chance it will show up as an authorized version once again.

The PKD-1 version, or called here the PDK, are recasts made by CoolModels, and infamous recaster, that is both infamous for the amount of stuff he rips off, but also for the barrel bottom quality of his casts. They are warped, bubbled, and often out of alignment between sides, and the parts rarely fit. It is almost easier to build from scratch than build one of his models. I would stay as far away as you can from these. Not to mention Rick will occasionally do a run of his PKD-1 guns, and he often sells them for near the same cost as the recast to propsummit members.

Yep, better to buy directly from Rick and pay a little more than trying to fix crap Wink

Indeed. I've got one of Rick's kits that the recast was taken from and there is no comparison. Rick's casts are nearly flawless and even the quality of materials used is of a much higher caliber.

I had a talk with Rick and he may be doing another run of his PKD-1 sometime soon. Hopefully we can generate enough interest to convince him to do so.
