There was a game from 2002 I believe called Timesplitters 2. One of the levels was called 2019 NeoTokyo. It contained similar architecture, similar flying cars, and a somewhat-similar soundtrack. Combine that with all of the Japanese influences in the level, and it's very similar to 2019 LA.

Yeah, that's the thing: a little too clean, and not crowded enough. But I'm betting that was more based on the system's capabilities at the time...

There's a runthrough of the level - really has a BR mood.....love the music, too.

I seriously need to find pictures of the cop cars for you guys, now that I think back, those were obviously influenced by spinners.

Edit: Come to think of it, a game from 2000 called Perfect Dark was set in the same general time period I think, and had one city level based in Chicago that reminds me of BR as well:

In Need for Speed 2 (I think), there is a 'Hollywood' themed track. One of the various sections is a very BR-esque cityscape with blimp and flying police car.

Hehe...nice! I just did my reasearch. It's called "Monolithic Studios", it's a bonus track, and does indeed paraody BR. Also, there's an unlockable car called "hoverpolice"....Gee, I wonder what that is...

I may have to get this game now just for that. Cool find SSB!

Thanks Smile

Loved that game when it came out. 1997 - Playstation & PC.

Here are pics of the cop car:

I tried to find some caps of the BR city bits earlier - no luck.

Considering all the garbage on the streets; it is amazing that there is any Japanese BR fandom! Laughing

-Which reminds me of a Japanese BR diorama I saw once. You could tell it was Japanese because the modeling was impeccable...but the street was spotless!

Guys. Ohmygawd.

Found that level's soundtrack

http://tsmusicbox.com/music/ts2/NeoTokyo.mp3

Pretty sure Graeme Norgate did this one like he did the rest, but oh my does it sound like Vangelis at points. Later the foreign vocals are the giveaway. Amazing,...if you ask me Very Happy

Furthermore, http://youtube.com/watch?v=RcxdC8LMZw8

go to 1:37 and youll see part of the cop car. Dead on spinner ripoff, except for the back of it, which resembles the front..

There are flying cars that look very much like Spinners in Appleseed, Ex Machina
