They are from a few years ago...I think someone this board may have made them. I have seen two of the vacuumform ones in the past month or so. Both from the same guy and the first went for about 60 or 70 $... BRprop has a pic with a gun using it as a display back.

RPF member GWTulsa made the plaqur for pistol mounting. I know. I burnt his mold out buying a dozen or so. Very Happy

Only full scale 16x16 i've seen is the one spinner44(?) is doing as a commission, I believe.

I've picked up several thicknesses of MDF and some damn expensive butterboard to do my own. But if their is a cast of an original or an accurate replica, it'll save me some effort...

I have a commercial vacform that handles anything up to 2' x 4' and 6" deep. I'm looking at doing the ceiling in my den and maybe the walls. I have a clear and frosted acrylic i can pull to cover the picture window. Very Happy just trying to sell the wifey.

In order to do so, I am doing some FLWright style stained glass for her and a big mosiac.

I have come accross other textile block house tiles made of cast stone on ebay for good prices. They officially made by FLWs estate. They haven't made the Ennis house version in a while. It is too bad since they could use some of the money for the house's restoration. Maybe we should suggest the idea to them. They make some keen bookends and lanterns, but they are very small. If the vacuumform mold on ebay was cast from an origional it could potentially be used as a female mold for spray foam stone or something of the type. all I know is that I too would like for their to be some cost effective way to make a tiles to possibly do a room with. It has been a dream of mine for over 20 yrs.

They have a seemingly steady supply of Stoner, Miller and Freeman tiles. I've bugged the crap out of a few of the FLW exclusive sellers with no luck in getting a Ennis tile. Most claim they never have seen one offerred.

Anyway those are 12" tiles. I want the 16".

There is a metal Stoner in 16". Evidently the restoration people on the Stoner project have their shit together.

I fear Ennis_Brown people have dropped the ball in last 2 years.

BTW Just got my Ennis-Brown Bookends to go with my candle holder. Look great holding my collection of BR related books.

If someone has a mold we need to talk. Smile $60 for one 16"x16" vac pull? I could build up a MDF mold if someone has a pattern or a tile to get measurements off of.
Its late now though, time to find out if I dream of electronic sheep.

Back to our reg televised program...

It's been mentioned that discussion of actual replication be done with caution. Therefore determining if some does or does not have an accurate available, tile, replica, sculpt, plug, mold etc. probably should not be openly pressed and those that might know of such things contact through PM.

However, methods for making an interpretive tile for one's self should be fair game.

vac-forming is with little doubt the least expensive way to produce a tile however detail can easily suffer. Fortunately there is little intricate detail on the tiles. Someone mentioned doing a room.

Do the math. It will take 18 16x16 tiles to equal one sheet of 4x8 standard wall paneling or dry wall. Someone mentioned 460 for a vac-form tile which would be exorbant. At $6 a tile, one would still be looking at over $100 for a 4x8 wall panel. In a room 12 feet by 20 feet , we are talking $1800!
Reason for my comments is that most of us probably need to be more specific in our desires for what we hope to accomplish with acquisistion of a decent repreentative EB tile.

IMO fragile plaster would be a waste of time and shipping.
portland cement may be excellent for true replication in weight and texture but weight would effect shipping cost drastically.

urethane foams and resins which i am experimenting with curently, offer a variiety of options in determining final color and texture as well as good durability.

If I get around to vaccing a few of my own it will only be for a small area. I'll probably spend a couple hundred dollars between plastic/mould/and paint but I think it will be worth it to have a unique wall treatment.
The foam would be ideal during installation, but what sort of materials/mould making cost is involved?
