I think its two toned, sliver and black. The bellows are black though. I wonder if they had two versions and one was all black with the other being two toned. _________________

I agree that it is two toned too. The bellows color could also could be seen as lighter from both the reflection and motion blending out the contrast in it.

After I did my screen grabs I pushed the levels really far to uncover the hidden details that get lost in the low light levels of the Tyrell office shots.
The bellows are black (originally) I feel the video screen side of the VK may be a dark gun metal grey and the rest black. Keep in mind I pushed the levels a lot in these.

I WILL have photos soon guys!
For my part, I have been working from Bluray-Ray screencaps and have spent many hours studying the damn thing!
I have rebuilt the entire screen housing section and front fascia. This will be more screen-accurate than any of the previous versions, but as others have already pointed out, the lack of any reference for this piece other than captures is always going to hamper anyone trying to produce a truly accurate piece.

Okay guys, what make you of this:
Two shots of the VK which seem to show different builds. The top of the screen section (ringed in red) do not appear to match. One detail section seems to extend above the the top of the cowl and sit on top (top pic) and one slightly below, like a section is cut out of the cowl and a sepate section inserted (bottom)
Also, in top picture there appears to be a rib along the bottom of the side of the cowl that is absent in the bottom pic (circled yellow).
Thoughts?
Better pic showing 'insert' piece:

Every book from the time about the SFX said that they had two VK machines. A plugged in working "hero" table top version and a stunt that could be picked up and moved. Also the hero was very likely only seen in the close ups.

The yellow circled piece is simply a reflection! The main monitor housing is painted in a metallic grey and sloppes down to the flat part of the machine in one swoop. Yes, top part on the hero monitor housing (small bar on top of lights) is smaller than the "movable V.K.
I will post drawings of main monitor housing a.s.a.p. |

I walk away for a month or two and look what you guys get up to. while I can't really help out with the build portion, i would be willing to help take some of the financial burden off you great people, i.e. helping to pay for parts needed. just let me know how i can help. _________________ full tilt boogie baby

Thats a very kind gesture and much appreciated, its still in the embryo stage but the more people like yourself who want to contribute
the greater the chance of success
Ideas and suggestions are what we really need at this piont. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

sounds good, i think perhaps what we need is definitive dimensions posted up so we all can spend a couple minutes sifting through ebay every once in a while and post up possible suggestions for screens and the like. also, after looking at those deleted scene caps posted thats definitely not a haliburton case in my opinion. more than likely its a plastic case, i'd say it was used for camera equipment (lenses and the like) _________________ full tilt boogie baby

Some sketches I made while studying the frames and some stills
Main body
Arm
Eyepiece
Front
Did anyone notice the tiny VK logo in the eyepiece?

Hope you like them |

Great sketches spinner44. Never noticed the little logo.
This is the haliburton case seen in the movie, it definately not
the VK case but Deckards personal case. The Final Cut case design
is the same as the one in the movie from what i can gather. Also a couple of snaps from the outstanding Fringe..................

Good start on the drawings Spinner44.
Stop me if I missed something, but the case on Deck's desk is not the one carrying the V.K.; it's another machine altogether, unless someone can show me a screen cap clearly showing it. If you look at the case on top of Tyrell's table, it's an all together different one.
Also for the sake of designing the machine, let's be clear on which one we want: the hero one, or the portable one. |

though the case needs to be established. anyone got any good caps of the vk case? _________________ "F*ck it, it's just a movie. Let him worry about it" Harrison Ford |

Heres a couple of snaps, not the best quality sorry, of the VK case.
The first one shows the multiple ridges on the top of the case and the second pic also, very faintly shows these ridges.
Just my opinion but i think the final cut case is a correct replica of the actual VK case, it just has a few more ridges than the original.

Cases I found that were close and/or shared some details were made by Hardigg, Gator, fiberbilt, and MBT.
