I've tried my hands on the matchstick man few months ago. I made three different versions but the last one did'nt work so well. If you checkout the "johnny walker arrived" thread in page 10, you can see two on the ashtray. Ill try to get better pics.

Oh, wait, you mean the matchstick man? No, not just at the moment. But if I could get a bit of privacy...

The trick, I suspect, will be forming the splinter-like "third leg" that enables the man to stand erect.

The other third leg that enables the man to stand erect should be relatively simple.

I just checked out the photo in the thread you mentioned. Yup! Cool little dudes! I'd love to see a closer shot.

Any particular tips you can offer based on your experience?

The matchstick man Leon picks up in the deleted scenes is clearly not a matchstick, but one of these:

However, the close up shot looks more like a matchstick.

Interesting observation. I'll have to check out the deleted bits.

Does anyone happen to have a screenshot from the deleted scenes of the figure Leon picks up?

The close shot of the figure Gaff makes seems quite clearly to be a wooden matchstick:

Can anyone confirm what color the head of the match is?

here it is

clearly bigger than the close up one. this was the same case with the snake scale, which changed colour and size throughout the film.

I've become a bit more handier with the scalple since trimming up all these photos

is there a tutorial for the origami chicken?

I always thought it was a paper matchstick, judging by the rectangle edges.

I tore out the staple and cut all the way down each individual sticks as i need all the length. I split the matchstick into 4 or 5 equal strips and then folded and cut from there. Next, I'll try out the wooden ones.

nope, it's definately a woody! Razz (sorry couldn't resist!) don't forget this significant feature on your wooden one Wink I read somewhere that apparently this was to indicate deckard had a hard-on for rachel or something like that.

LOL, I always that the protruding end was so unusual, so i left it out. But it make sense now.

From the screen cap im begining to think the legs were 3 seperate pieces and then wedged together? I'll give the woody a try on my second attempt

Here are a few more screencaps showing, in particular, the sliver-thin "third leg" that enables the figure to stand erect. Wink

I hope these pics will be helpful to anyone trying to recreate the matchstick man.

These are great reference images! I myself have tried my hand at doing the unicorn and stick man figure, maybe I'll take some pics and post them sometime.

I'd really like to have a nice collection of Gaff's origami figures, the only one I'm missing is the chicken. That one has me stumped.

So, has anyone here figured out how to make the chicken??? Confused
