It almost looks more like a tool case in that last shot. Are we sure what color the VK case is? _________________

We should forget about the case used in Tyrell's office; it could be anything: military case, camera case (I'm talking big Hollywood cameras), surveyor case, medical case, etc.
Added to the difficulty is the era; 70's, 80's case most probably. As Andy said in his previous post, you can find different models on line, but not that one! |

Yeah Andy, you're right; I'm gonna still look for one, but knowing those prop guys they probably said: "hey look at the nifty case, I could use it for (put your favorite prop here to fill the blank), 'cause Ridley wants variety and he likes to look at 25/30 different cases! |

I think i found one at work today, a freelance "jimmy jib" camera op seemed to have, from a distance the exact case, not too big, not too small
and two groups of ridges at either end and was matt black.
Will post pics in a couple of days, i think you were right on the money joberg, although if it does turn out to be or near to be, the case then
it maybe very difficult to source cheap, if any, second hand ones.
Those guys tend to hang on to their stuff. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

What? You mean a BR found prop that is rare and elusive? Say it ain't so Joe.
It does seem that for the most part all the found props in BR were specifically chosen as things that were not easily identifiable to keep the retro/futuristic feel. Items that were commonplace would take you out of the scene and fantasy of it. That would mean not to many common items were used and they would end up pretty rare today.

there's a really good shot of the case that hasn't been posted up yet. its when you see the side shot of deckard. you can clearly see the case along with the vk logo on it. maybe someone can post a high def cap? _________________ "F*ck it, it's just a movie. Let him worry about it" Harrison Ford |

This is the best cap i could get and manipulate with my primative equipment, a hi res snap should solve it.
BTW
Thinking about the esper molds, i came across this and never
noticed it before but it would be handy for anyone attempting the VK mold as a scale reference, it looks like the graphics
running on the screen are the same ones used when Ash was giving Dallas an atmospheric report just after the Nostromo landed....

See page 3 and the posted pictures by Rustyn242. The case is fairly clear (3/4 shot and a front shot) but it seems to me that the logo on the case is not the letter V.K. but Tyrell's logo.
Just me in my usual delirious state ?
Yes Tim it does look like that list of elements Ash was showing in Alien. |

Totally different case to the one i saw, six thick ridges, not two groups of four. The serrated edges of the two halves should make hunting for one a little easier. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

ahh, I missed those
yeah the shot I was talking about is the same as the second image. this should be on the high def blue-ray so would be good to get a clearer version. I'm sure it is the VK logo on the case. a higher rez cap should be able to confirm this better. _________________ "F*ck it, it's just a movie. Let him worry about it" Harrison Ford |

Check out disc 5 Inception/Sacrificial Sheep, TT 04/57 CH 01/02 0:04:40 to see a good side shot of the case. Sorry I can not do screen caps.

Completely awesome news.
Heres a couple of dvd caps, on the pal discs, the scene Andy so skillfully spotted is on disc 4 but the time codes still match up.

I really don't see the same case here; not the same design nor the same thickness. Either Ridley is playing with our mind (or prop master)or there's absolutely no continuity whatsoever! Look at post 3 to see what I mean. |

Here is a similar case on Ebay...
Still very different though.

I think Pelican cases are pretty similar (emphasis on "similar") they're all in heavy duty plastic and don't have any shiny aluminum pieces showing up around the case ( no extra handle on the side either). |
