You did a freaking awesome job with that blaster!!! I am unsure if I could tell the difference between the real and the replica if I wasnt studying them. _________________ www.propsummit.com

well , thats the way to start the day !
A boost from a fellow fan .....thank you again .
It may be the only big expence that I am able to get into for a while ( heard that one before ) so I took my time and tried to do it as close to the world con shots as possible...the shot with the photo is a gas ! Thanks again to the investigative skills of the treasure hunter that captured those!
so I hope in some way I have thrown my hat into the playing field as its my first try at something like that . _________________ I've seen things ....you people appear to be intrested in ... |

As first tries go. it's the best if it was the 100th!. You have an eye for detail and the ability to replicate it! |

WOW! I REALLY must finish my Sidkit, this where it stands now:
I've changed the shape of the trigger guard to make it more accurate, and made the barrel the correct bore with a piece of thinned down EMA ABS tube, filled the front of the barrel with some spare metal (a melted down bullet leftover from the kit, I too replaced the kit bullets with deactivated rounds!), the barrel is now completly hollow all the way back to the cylinder, lastly the barrel has been chamfered to match the prop.
All I have to do now is make the LED holders and source a correct switch.
PS: Does anyone have castings of the correct bolt on the right hand side of the casing? The one that used to be a flat screw head bolt, but which now looks like it came off a gun sight? |

Wow, it's settled. I'm getting a Sidkit. You did an awesome job -- one of the best I've seen, and I've seen a bunch. |

The barrel is an awsome idea,as well as the other things you've done .
I need one of those gunsight bolts as well ....its from a weaver scope, but im not sure what model #,,,I know there was a BR fan bidding on all of them on ebay (even though he had allready won a couple) I think he has deep pockets and thats good for him but bad for the rest of us that need it to finish a kit properly....well it may take a while now ... _________________ I've seen things ....you people appear to be intrested in ... |

It's a 'Weaver Model 29S'. There's one on e-Bay right now at a current bid of $40.
I'm looking around for these, but I'm not gonna pay more than $10 for it. They'll come down in price eventually. |

You can find the origional link here where I first found them. They also have almost exactly the same knob on the 344 scope. The hash marks are slightly tapered on mine. My father sent me the scope and it might not be good enough for the sticklers in here, but it might just be a variation that is individual to each knob based on the stamping process for the markings. The patina on mine is perfect though. The size is also perfect. I have seen the scopes range still from $30 to $90 even after the hubbub. They are pretty common and I bet a few trips to the flea market would find you one. Also gun shows and such. I might be willing to lend one of my knobs out if I know it would be safe. My fatehr had two of the scopes with different knobs on each so makesure you get good pics from an ebay auction. Most of the winners seem to actually be gun collectors though. |

Rich,
Just wondering if you enlarged the Grips and took out the "seam" in the grip texture? I figured you left that in there before as a "tell" for "recasting". |

The "tell" is still there, but I have reshaped and enlarged the grips from these pictures which showed how small the grips I have been modeling from were.
Which also means I had to reshape and change the grip frame and then the side cover.
This is one of the things that has delayed this model.

Nerf herder version of the PKD...not really that accurate but it was fun to do. Includes Photoshopped version by Noeland which pretty much provides a roadmap for someone with more leet Nerf-modding skills than I to really create a Nerf PKD.

Gee, I wonder what the proportional relationship between the grip and the triggerguard lengths is?
Gee, I wonder what the relationship is between the 'bulge' between the first and second finger-grooves, and the triggerguard?
Gee I wonder how long it will take until Karl's wonderful beautiful pictures result in a dimensionally accurate replica?
Did someone mention overlays in Photoshop? Excellent idea!
This is the prop in green over a previous generation of blaster. Quite edifying wouldn't you say? Don't mind me, I'm just passing through.
