It'd be a shame if someone didn't make it into a game.
With the new consoles capabilities the graphics would be out of this world.

Oh...how about an MMORPG of Blade Runner, now that would be good!

I know people have tried to make BR like games, with moderate to no success. The BR Partnership for some reason does not want to market BR for anything other than DVD's. I think they are afraid it will take up too much of their time, and the history of BR licensing products is that they don't sell all that well. The movie is enjoyed by mostly adults that don't buy toys or play games. The Westwood game itself wasn't able to make its fees back IIRC. Though it also had a loyal following, it wasn't the huge hit it needed to be to justify its costs.

I just mentioned it in toothtech's thread, but these guys along with some talented coders would be able to come up with a pretty spiffy mod.

People are already creating single player mods for this game: http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?cat=25&sid=ae566e09d02dc026f6176523da82c8a7

It's alot of work, but even just a short atmosphere mod that re-creates some of the scenes would be fantastic.

I could see myself spending all day...month engrossed in a game like this. I wouldn't want to leave.

right there with you Andy.

i still launch my saved game and put McCoy on the Balcony just to hear the 'Blade Runner Blues' Klepacki cover.

i have left him there for hours on end...

cant imagine what i'd do with a new game.

The cool thing there was if you went out on the balcony, it would keep playing even if you went back inside and ran the esper.

forgot about that! Westwood paid such great attention to atmospherics.

its the sole reason why i kept my PC tower for so long. thanks to Parallels, i can enjoy it anytime on my laptop these days.

but there's always room for a new version...

The only thing that puzzled me about the game was with all the attention to detail in the background, why they chose such a low rez for the characters. Granted they looked ok from a distance, but up close it was butt ugly.

Shame that it never made it as the real time sandbox that it was pitched as.
