I am not sure if everybody else would agree with you about missing his input. There is aways a remote chance we could let him back in, but I doubt he would be able behave himself.
I saw his pictures a while back and it does look like he has fixed a couple of his problems with his old design, but many of his biggest problems still exist, and I don't have the energy to continue trying to get him to fix them anymore.
I wish him luck,
Andy |

Not the best example of firearm safety I've ever seen. Considering the first thing they teach you is: Always treat any firearm as if it's loaded, even if you know it isn't.
Although there would be some irony to accidentally shooting yourself with the very prop you've spent years replicating. _________________

If you read his e-mail, he was in a state of pure glee ...was not thinking straight for at least 30 min. That's why he's pointing the gun at his face. I think Karl can relate to that state of elation; after a while, practical thoughts pop into the brain: i.e. time to take thousands of pictures while I have that baby in front of me |

Anybody who has had any experience with guns instinctively know not to point it at their face. Rich supposedly knows guns, but in this case this gun may look like a toy model that he is familiar with. Even if the gun never had real bullets in it, a lot of fatalities have occured with blanks left in props.
The Ironic thing is the only way I would have looked down the barrel of that gun is with the cylinder open, and Rich never tried to open the cylinder because he was convinced he would have had to take the steyr clip assembly off in order to do it. He had no problem pulling back the bolt, but he never tested the cylinder because he told me he was 100% that he was right about them cutting the Cylinder release, which I was convinced I was right.
Funny how he never says he was wrong about it, just "That is what the propmaster told me" and "I am now making them so they can release without taking apart". The propmaster he was talking about gave him and Phil a lot of other missinformation, I wonder if he was real or not?

Well, I don't feel 100% comfortable to chat about a person who has been banned, but propsummit is a bridge burned for Rich. I don't support his return.
As for pointing the blaster at yourself, I suppose I might make an exception for the real deal out of a glass case. I would not be worried about it discharging since you can see if there is any brass in the cylinder, and also because I too would be like a kid in a candy store.
But Andy's right, it would likely be instinct not to point the damn thing right at my face like that.
Though I suppose it could be a trick of the angle, perhaps he's not pointing directly at his face but just over his left shoulder.

^THIS^ please.
Rich was given the "benefit of the doubt" time & time again during this forum's existence. Anyone actually wanting his input can try to get it at any time through his website (provided he's willing to respond).
The only reason he would have to keep a civil tongue in his head now is because he was lucky enough to have his self-appointed arch-nemesis DIE suddenly (miraculously eliminating his main competition). However, don't forget, that if anyone here owns a Sidkit Deckard Blaster, Coyle considers you a recaster-supporting SCUMBAG, plain & simple (an opinion he has voiced loudly & poorly-typed on multiple occasions).
IMO, the ONLY reason he didn't fly off the handle, YET AGAIN, over at the RPF in the thread about Sid's death, is because he is fully aware that the mods' iron fist would have dropped swiftly & mercilessly over there, effectively reducing his potential clientele to almost NOTHING.
But, this isn't MY message board. If he comes back, I'll ignore his bullcrap for as long as I can; and then I'll retaliate. I'll be damned if I'm gonna let the likes of him drive me away from this BR oasis. _________________

Points taken and my sincere apologies for opening up a can of worms - that certainly was not my intention.
That said, I suppose an "In memory of Rich" section on the forum is out of the question? |

Well he isn't dead, but he does seem to like digging his own grave.
I actually still have a lot of affection for Rich, even though he says some offensive things. He is the spaz kid that everybody likes to pick on in the lunch room and Gym class, just to see him spaz out. I feel guilty for taking part in some of the ribbing. I just can't seem to convince him that his colon is not that scenic of a place.
Lets face it that before Rich, the BR Blaster replicas were pretty much static simple garage kits. Things have come a long way since then though. He still feels his replicas are the most accurate because of the Source parts he used, but he is just plain blind to his props problems.
I can only hope he can take a step back and find his way again.

Sadly this isn't a phenomenon limited only to Rich.
Aside from some of his remarks posted during the 'Ham Salad Era' as I like to think of it, I've never had any problems with him as a businessman or with his product. I think his ego just couldn't stand up to the idea that anyone could produce a metal replica for half the price of what he was asking. Add in to that mix a douche like Ham Salad claiming that if he sent over the masters, he could produce a metal replica for a buck and change, and it just got to be too much for him. That said, I wish Rich no harm, I was merely pointing out a basic of firearm safety. _________________

No harm done oldzey...as you can see the "Rich subject" is alive and well at Propsummit. That's what I like about this board: great people full of skills, ready to share and most of all...not full of themselves |

I hope that my comments are not taken as anything more than my opinion please.
And you don't owe any apologies Oldzey. You've shown time and again that you're a cool person. _________________ I don't have enough blasters! |

He's already started showing his ass, & using those inane Dr. Seuss arguments in various threads over the past few months. I'd imagine he'll have some kind of meltdown soon enough. _________________
