That looks awesome sitting there on the table! It's cool that this kit stands like that. The original Halcyon kit wouldn't do that, the vinyl was softer, and I had to put coat hanger wire in all the legs so I could stand it up. |

It must be a different material than the Halcyon model.. I have never seen one but this one is rigid and with heat you can form it a bit. and the parts are easy to trim |

Looking good so far.
Others that have put these beasts together have used Magic Sculpt of Aves Epoxy putty on the seams.
Bondo may pop off if you flex it to much.
Most also put wire inside so they can be positioned, that's what I plan to do with mine when I get around to assembling it.

Thanks Division 6!
actually I dont think mine is vinyl, it seems more rigid than that. it may be a different type of vinyl. To position it I ran the desired peice under hot water and held it in place for a few seconds. this version is so stiff, there is really no need for wire, and simple bondo seems to adhere perfectly to it.
I am going to make a display which consists of a black subfloor structure with a sheet of foam cut like the medlab floor tiles place over it. then I will pour a little MEK or Acetone onto the foam so it simulates the acid. then just place the monster next to that with a medical tray, and a couple tools.. wallah! cheap alien prop |

Maybe its because it has a funny habit of shedding its cells and replacing them with polarized silicon which gives it a longer resistance to adverse environmental conditions. |

Started painting.
just need to add the greenish-yellow hue fleshtone paint. In these two pictures are 3 different colors before adding the final greenish flesh color ( I had to order the base color 'cos I live in the middle of nowhere)
I will mix a base Tamiya fleshtone with a bit of yellow, drop of green and drop of grey to make the final wierded out color of the face hugger.
Steve's Helmet and unfinished facehugger... (with my bitchin' parker jacket of course )

That Alien display is getting greater by the day JT; first the jacket, then the helmet, the Nostromo model, the flamer and finally the face-hugger |

Another excellent project growing as fast as a chestburster in an astronaut chest... JT, at this pace your collection will be as impressive as Tim / offworld66's BLADE RUNNER prop collection in a few months !!! You'll need another house very soon I guess !

I forgot to say in my last posting thanks by the way, and also, I bought a small piece of K&S square rod from the hardware store...
Now the plan is to heat up the end of this rod with a candle, and before I airbrush the final modified flesh tone to the face hugger, I am going to indent the to small divots in each face hugger knuckle the way it should be like in the original movie. It is not on the halcyon kit, But I will do it on mine, and then send the little tool to Spacejockey for his model.

Thank you joberg!
I am very surprised how well it works. I had one similar to this about 11-12 years ago, and it seems they have improved the quality of them. the tip adjustment allows one to make different spray patterns. It just takes some getting used to.
I also shipped in 4 more 16 ounce cans of propellant I will use someday I suppose... They will probably go bad before I can use it all..unless I do my house lol! But for the price, it is a pretty good deal.! for the money I would recommend it! |
