As you know jonnyb, I like scratch-built stuff; looking forward to see pics of your project. |

The clear colour turned out very well so i put the basics of the lights together.
For convenience, i pre painted the wires before installation and added some clear colour to the globes and it seems to help give an even colour when lit. The idea to light the blue and red spot lights was a bit ambitious and have decided to just light the teardrops and the front light.

Ahhh Fred, its not that tricky, wheres that famous French adaptability?
The friend who helps me out with my electronics is the opposite, he actually wanted to rig the medicom with tubes and pockets of talcum powder and using a small
can of compressed gas,
recreate the verticle take off "exhaust" from the screen one.
Woulda looked awesome but i thought it asked too much from the medicom. True story.
Anyway Fred, here are some pics that should make it easier
for your pal.
The wirering can be exactly the same as the configerations of
all the lit Blaster LEDS if you want, same principle. Im gunna wait for Marty to become available to help me on these because i want
them to flash on and off.
Just use small dots of super glue when piecing everything together, just enough to hold it but allow you to "snap off" if you have to make an adjustment.
Even a small battery powered drill will do the job on the medicom as the plastic is "soft"
I added a small piece of diffusing paper, its like an industrial traceing paper, to the front light to spread the light from the globe more evenly.

I forgot to mention that i only painted the insides of the teardrops with clear colour, this is important.
Here is the spinner put together, not screwed together. The next set of pics will be of the finished spinner with working lights and decals, soon, i hope.

Wow, I am seriously sorry now I didn't pony up for one of these customization kits. The detail is very well done. The Medicom spinner is pretty nice by itself, but this just amplifies it's coolness by 10x.

Much thanks brothers.
Yes Andy, the kit is unbelievably superb, even the smallest part has incredible detail and needed no work prior to installing, it makes the previous
medicom i converted with scratch parts look, well, terrible.
The medicom on its own is also fantastic, a quality build
and how cool is it that you can swap it to the "street" config. Its a damn shame that they werent allowed to complete it with a lightbar
etc but then again, I cant see it getting close to the Broken Heros masterpiece. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

very nice...thanks so much for posting progress pics
i also have this conversion kit -- had already built/repainted my Medicom spinner but I believe I can pull it back apart to add conversion parts
i am curious about adding lights myself -- did you mention WHERE you got your lights? also, do they generate enough heat that, if left on too long, would risk MELTING the thin vacuform plastic light housings??
I am not very swift when it comes to installing lights/electronics, so I am just liable to build mine without working lights...but the effect is SO cool that I may give it a go provided you can tell me your thoughts on the lights potentially melting the plastic domes. _________________ teckel@bellsouth.net |

Thanks dr
I got the lights from our version of Radio Shack, they not LEDS but real globes.
Yes, they do generate a little heat but by cheating a little i think it can be overcome. Just spot glue the teardrops at the front, not all way round and im getting them wired so they dont burn at full intencity and also have them flash on and off. That should make it very safe but i wont know for sure till its wired and fired up. If you use LEDS, i dont think heat is an issue, just dont like the light they give off.

I am new to the forum and I would like to say that your work is excellent.
I am trying to locate one of the conversion kits myself.
