|
|
Hey All,
As the new hero pulse rifle is out of my range been searching around for a cheaper alternative and found a much cheaper kit available at Comet Miniatures in the UK.
Has anyone seen or built one of these kits?. The picture on the site looks good, but dont they always
As the description on the site is very limited, any advice on this model would be much aoppreciated.
Cheers, Tim. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

For that price I would absolutely go for it. You already have probably a 97% accurate form ready to construct... you can finish out the perfection in detailing yourself.. |

Many thanks Neil, that just sealed the deal, It shouldnt be too hard to stick a working led counter in it. _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

Glad i could help
I'm not a member on those forums but found it a few weeks ago when lookin' for some pictures of the kit.
The pictures do look nice.
The ones on the site don't look that good tbh. |

Looks like a decent kit for the price (sans the counter). Cool that it can be made to fire:

That kit looks okay-ish except that the magazine housing (the green section between the triggers) is extremely oversized.

That could be trimmed down and reshaped with a small amount of putty easy enough. |

True, but it shouldn't have to be. There's enough decent reference out there these days, mistakes like this shouldn't happen in the first place.

Thanks man, good to see you here too. I wondered where you got to after you left the RPF in a hurry!
What happened with your Nostromo kit?

I am still working on it, I have one brand new redone one almost ready to ship, a new almost ready to mold space-jockey derelict, and started a 2 foot derelict shape, and just shipped 2 small nostromo kits are Argentina, so a total of about 30 small Nostromos. a guy named mangamax here has one that is so incredible in the way he is detailing it, even though I hardly make a dime on them after materials, packaging and shipping, I do like seeing people build them!
I am waiting for payday for my last batch of silicone and casting resin (I have indulged in way too many toys over the past year) |

I dont mind that the magazine housing is larger than the hero, it looks "ballsyer" and jtp`s right, it can easily be modified.
The fact that it can be made to fire BB pellets is also attractive, shame BB guns are now prohibited here, still, nothings impossible _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

haha "ballsyer"... good one. I was wondering what you guys were talking about it being made to really fire.. I was thinking "what the hell can it be made to fire...??!!!"
If you trim the magazine well, simply in the very center down each side trim out a strip of desired material, the in the center of the bottom the same amount, then test fit before you re-assemble, and trim the top of the well where it fits to the receiver, and it should be perfect! |
