Thanks Mike
Had to pause the DVD to see what it was and then stumbled upon one on the Bay, lol.
I'll be happy if i can finish my VP plate and get some sort of primer on it anytime soon.
Would love to do the Falfa Chevy next. |

Hi Neil,
You beat me to the punch!!! I was just about to post some screen caps from Two-Lane Blacktop for you myself!!! Great minds and all that!!! As GTO would say "Just Colour me gone baby!!!"
Check out these YouTube links. Yes indeed, its Barry Newman, "our known driver" been pursued by the blue, blue meanies once again, this time in 1972's "Fear is the Key"

I have the exact same piston shift knob from the coup,it's an old Cal Custom piece ( still in the box even!) and that skull looks familier too in the chevy, have to check but ...

Haha...sorry Mike, couldn't resist.
The '55 Chevy was definitely the main character of the movie.
That movie looks great, will definitely have to see that one soon.
Also, notice Harry Dean Stanton (Alien) in TLBT?
IGNITERS, that's cool! I hope you'll share some pictures?
I did a quick google and there seem to be a few piston style gear knobs, I may have to get one at some point.
Not that I have a '32 to put it in, lol.
Do you know who made the original?
Thanks again guys.
Neil. |

Piston shift knob by "CAL CUSTOM", the size is small if you remember the scene where looney Phillips is playing with it on her pinkie, just before milner gives it to her ...( you know what I mean ) lol _________________ I've seen things ....you people appear to be intrested in ... |

Hi Neil,
I know just what you mean about the weather, its snowing a bloody blizzard up here, again!!! Never mind, here's some more eye-candy to try cheer you up! Its the 1934 Ford "Three Window" coupe" complete with its notorious rearward opening "Suicide Doors!!!" "The California Kid" from the 1974 TV-Movie of the same name, starring Martin Sheen, Vic Morrow and Nick Nolte.
Ford 302-cid V-8
engine in The California Kid.

Great pics Mike!
Love hotrods.
Not seen that movie, will definitely have to check it out.
Thanks again.
EDIT
Just looked on IMCDB and found another cool shot of the car...
There's also a One-fifty in the movie aswell, lol.
This time it's a '54 though.
Gotta love IMCDB.
Mike, is that yellow one from the same movie?
It looks alot nicer.
On a side note this license plate is only the second thing i've ever built so i'll be over the moon if i get to the primer stage.
Hopefully nothing will go wrong. |

Hi Neil,
Now as you and I both know, the "Last American Hero" was, in fact, a man who went by the name of Kowalski and who vanished, along with with his Dodge Challenger, just after passing a Black Imperial, near the California border, at 10:02am one Sunday morning long ago!!! Or was he killed in a 67 Camaro that crashed into a road-block??? Anyway, this didn't stop Fox from releasing a film called "The Last American Hero" in 1973. It's based, very, very, loosely, on a true story. Look out for Jeff Bridges and Ned "Squeal like a pig" Beatty of "Deliverance" fame. You may also recognise one of the stock-car crashes!!!

Hopefuly, I'm here to help raise the bar... no need to thank me, really, it comes from the heart !

Man, you really know your car movies Mike.
I've not heard of, let alone seen, most of these. I really need to up my game.
The footage must just be stock footage i guess?
I love the whole backstory in Vanishing Point, definitely makes the story.
Fred, that car is a beaut! Lmao.
Such a beast.
Love it. |

Hi Neil,
Yep, I'm just an old petrol head at heart! and I've got the bans/convictions/points/fines to prove it!!! Of course nowadays, older and wiser, not to mention with speed cameras almost everywhere, I drive at a much more mature/sedate pace. Well you can't really do much else in an R reg 1.2L Corsa!!! I call her "The Millenium Dustbin" She may not look much on the outside kid but she's got it where it counts! I've made alot of special modifications to her myself... etc. etc.
Let's not forget that when it came to car chases in the 70's the Yanks may have had the Muscle/Pony cars, but us Brits could still show em a thing or two!!! "Give it some beans George!!!"

Great post Neil, thanks mate, added it to my Favorites straight away!!!
Yep, stock footage used in "The Last American Hero" but you've seen that crash before somewhere!!! It's used in one of Kowalski's "flashbacks!!!"
Fred.... what can I say??? I laughed so hard that I nearly wet myself!!! Thanks for posting, you have indeed raised the bar!!!
Now here is a cautionary tale for all of us!

Ah yes.....but is she the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy?

I must admit i've never seen the Sweeney
I was born in '87 so i've got quite a bit of catching up to do, lol.
Quote: | Great post Neil, thanks mate, added it to my Favorites straight away!!! |
As soon as i saw it i got goose bumps.
I hope it is the original.
That just leaves the 2 Mustangs and 1 more Charger to be found

Yep. It went better with VP though
Who would have thought.....the first ever drifting video, lol.
Another movie i really wanna see is The Seven-Ups.
Supposedly it has the best car chase, which doesn't surprise me as it has Bill Hickman at the wheel. He also drove the Charger in Bullitt and you can clearly see him (He's the guy with black glasses)
