Gang-

I have little doubt that its been gone over in depth but id like to hear anyone’s thought to the specifics of the laser pointer/jewelers screwdriver component. I’m slowly amassing parts for a blaster and will most likely use them to supplant some of the Sidkit metal kit parts. Id like to see if anyone has come across a screwdriver that matched the original. Or I may machine a few if I can’t. The cast ones never feel/look the same in regards to the knurling.

Thanks!

-Michael

It reminds me of a nail "set" a tool used to counter-sink nails. Not that I've ever seen one that matched.

I found an aluminum handle that's very similar...it's got pointy tools that come off of either end. The trick is removing the metal tools from either end without damaging the aluminum.

I am pretty sure it isn't a jeweler's screwdriver. Mainly because it would be pretty close to impossible to remove the shaft from one of those. I had a list of items I was searching for and came pretty close on a few occasions. Some of my ideas include...
-pin vise
-mechanical pencil or scriber
-hole punch
-rivet or nail setter
-revolver cylinder axle/shell casing remover
I have a feeling that it is probably a tool used with gunsmithing, since so many of the greeblies came from gun parts. My list is actually much longer, but most of it I have somewhat ruled out.

Add dental tools to the list of possibles. Actually that's the first thing that was suggested to me. I've looked at a lot of them on ebay (vintage) never came close.

I wouldn't be surpised if the sight was a reloading tool used for popping the dimpled primers out of used shell casings or something along those lines. Could have easily been a drift punch handle, or a gunsmithing screw driver handle too.

It's such a specific design though, you'd think someone would have found the company who made screw drivers with handles like that by now.

Thanks Seth, you hit the point of my avatar right on the head...read any reviews lately?
As far as the site/laser is concerned, it's reasonable to assume ,since nothing has been found that's identicle, they may have altered a found object slightly, at least 10% to avoid copyright issues.
It's a simple enough design to have machined from scratch...If you know someone with a metal-lathe or have a machine shop in your town.
Or check out this link: http://www.emachineshop.com/
These guys actually GIVE you a CAD program for designing metal parts and when you have finished with the design you want, not only will it show the part to you in 3-D but you can also click a button and get a quote!
No, I'm not spamming here and no I haven't tried it myself...though I have the CAD program I haven't been able to figure it out. Maybe one of you will have better luck! Let me know if you do, there's some parts I'd love to have made.

The thing about the green LED site is that I am sure I have seen it before. As sure as I was with the scope knob and I was able to find that. Problem is that memories from that long ago are not complete. I also think that in some of the world con photos I can just make out numbers inside the side grooves. I have asked Karl a few times about them and have not yet got an answer.

Andy,
when you say "scope knob" are you talking about the knob that faces out on the right side of the gun?

I call it the "Watch face" knob but I wanted to be certain we were on the same page.
Did you also say you found a source for them?

it was on this very board that i first posted about it here...

http://propsummit.com/viewtopic.php?t=177&start=0

you can find them on ebay once in a while(actually quite often). They are an adjustment knob for a vintage Weaver 29s scope...also the Weaver 344 is almost identical.

I had to re link the image since it was dead, but it is the same one I first posted. I have the 344 scope and the 29s seems pretty common, but a lot of high bidders have been gun part collector, sellers.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that from the lack of a response to my question, the answer is a "no."
No worries...I came across a weaver knob(thanks to Andy's Info) and am having some duplicates machined.
I'll post pics if they turn out well and if I can get my camera up and working!

Sorry man, thought is was a rhetorical question Wink. I am not interested in selling because it was my father and grandfather's. Also it is the 344 version and just very slightly different. I am keeping it in scope form for now. I have offered to let a couple people make casts off of it though.
