So, I'm getting there with most of the bits now Smile

If you can't find it, scratch build it, if you can't scratch build it, get it lasercut.

Unfortunateley those parts seem to have gone awol in transit from the US to the UK, hopefully not permanently...

Not really happy with the light lenses, Richie sent me some cool high res pics which show the originals seem to have aluminium bezels.

Anyway, progress:

I just picked up another TV as a base. I had already purchased one but when I received it it was brand new! I felt bad about tearing into it.

One thing I found interesting is there are differences in the TVs, i.e. one is bess brown and the other OD green. There are also sone switch differences.

I started adding my greeblies. Cant wait to get more progress on it.

Damn, with all those motion trackers owners we won't be able to move freely on this board airshafts very soon !

Can't wait to see progress pics of yours, Richie !

Fred

I can only vouch for the lines on BBs motion tracker but the black lines on the sensor were simply black pin striping tape.

Itll be a slow build as im having difficulty finding even the smallest items. Simon is doing a great job and like he I will more than likly have to scratch build many of the parts.

I've been really busy the last few weeks, so I haven't had all that much time to wok on the tracker.

I have installed the electronics though.

The soundboard has three loops that are activated by turning the Vernier Dial, under which I've installed a rotary selector switch.

There are three sounds - the modulation sound from when Dallas first tries out the tracker, then two tracking sounds - the standard double bleep and a faster 'signal approaching sfx.

The sounds were taken out of the movie then edited on Soundforge to remove background noise.

Lights are operated by a second switch, located where the original's microswitch was. I couldn't track down a latching microswitch, so I installed a simple push-button in it place.

There are four lights, the large one, the blue and one of the reds cycle, while the last red is static.

There are also two white leds beneath the screen representing 'signals.

When the whole thing is done I will put up a video of the thing working, some pics in the meantime:

Holy smoke....It is done!

I put the final touches to the tracker yesterday, and she's a beaut!

The laser cut cut parts (mysterious grills and the disk parts next to the ice tray) turned out really well.

I put together a little video of me rabbiting on about the build & showing off the electronics, which you can check out here:

And on with the pics!
