I thought this would be a funny place to post photos of locations that remind you of Blade Runner... it doesn't matter wether they come from a distant country or your hometown, the most important here is to try to catch the "feel" of 2019...

Let's start with a few pics taken during a trip to Tokyo 3 years ago... This town reminds you of BR at almost each and every corner, especially when you're "lucky enough" to be desperately looking for a ramen restaurant on a rainy night !

A street right in the heart of Sector 4 :

Chew's red lit conapt on top of the "Eyeworld" building :

Security device at the rear entrance of Rachael's building :

Bikes parked near the Snake Pit entrance :

Maybe - maybe not

This is a shot of the Robarts Library on the University of Toronto Campus - I work on the 7th floor.

The building kind of has a BR feel -

"The library's main building is a large brutalist/futurist concrete structure which to some people looks like a giant peacock when viewed from the south (see top picture) with the small tower in front representing the peacock's neck and beak, while the library stacks in the background are thought to look like its extended tail. It has also been speculated that the unusual shape of the building might be a reference to the dragon slain by Saint George, given the library's location on St. George Street."

Astonishing..... Wow. How can I turn my vinegards at rear side of my home to toxic waste in a Blade Runner world? Very Happy

A very good idea Fred! Lovely pics. In fact, I bought a book about customs used by young japanese to "discover" some Blade Runner trends presents today.

A link to the book:

http://www.buy.com/prod/fruits/q/loc/106/30736101.html

(and is not Amazon one! Very Happy)

Yeap. There is no Deckard coat or Rachel dress here. I think this is what a future generation after BR could be, from a young point of view. It resembles more a manga/anime style than BR, but... its very fun.

Far to market someone products or sites, I found these interesting sites, for one or another reason, when Googling "BLADE RUNNER LANDSCAPES":

http://bladerunnerlandscape.com/

http://www.madisonavenuejournal.com/2006/03/16/blade_runner_new_yorks_landscape/

http://www.huzzam.com/etext/davmurbancont/Beyond_Blade_Runner.html

http://graphicapparatus.blogspot.com/2007/12/blade-runner-day-23-pyramid-landscape.html

Images section:

Madrid

Shopping window

Do you recognize this?

and this?

Japan is plenty of pics like this one:

Well, I will have an open eye to catch a real (and near to me) landscape Blade Runner-alike. Will not be easy, but... patience is a must... Smile

Its very fun to use ideas from others to produce unexpected results from GG.... (thanks again Fred!).

Found this on an unusual site: englishrussia.com, which has some very nice night photographs of Moscow that sure looks like Blade Runner!

More are posted here: http://englishrussia.com/index.php/2009/10/27/cloudy-weather/#more-5684

I know this topic has been quiet for a while now, but I came across this building whilst researching futurist architecture, and it seemed too similar not to post.

Ferrohaus in Zurich, Justus Dahinden.

Presumably it means Iron House

YouTube user egawauemon's steadicam strolls around the backstreets of Tokyo have a certain 'Bladerunneresque' feel about them.

Thanks for sharing guys...if I was to shot another BR movie, I would put cast and crew in Tokyo (no need to have extensive transformations to make the sets believable Wink )

Nice pics, everyone...I think I'm going to contribute a few of my own, once I get the hang of proper night photography with this newfangled digital camera.

Until then, the brutalist Oakland Postal Distribution Center always reminds me of Tyrell Corp. headquarters, especially at dawn or dusk. It's monumental and intimidating, with those narrow slitted windows. I'll try to get a few decent pics of it.

The one that always reminds me of the Tyrell building is that one hotel down on Union Square, the St. Francis I think, it has those external elevator cars running up the outside of it. Always makes me think of that scene.

I'll have to grab some snaps next time I'm down that way.

Yeah, definitely. The Hyatt down at the Embarcadero has this giant open atrium with a bar, restaurant, fountain, and Tyrell-style elevators sliding up and down. Looks more Logan's Run than Blade Runner, but it's a cool space all the same.
