Do you mean 7/16 of an inch? 1/17 of an inch is not a common measurement for inches which is usually divided in half over and over again..for example 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, etc. 7/16" is about 12mm, and 1 7/16 is about 37mm. Making the final buttplate about 64mm x 37mm x 12mm.

a little more progress...
With help from some great folks here I've tentatively drafted the frame for the grip. It's potentially a goer in some 1/2" wood but until I've decided on material for the actual grips themselves I'm holding fire on cutting it.
So in the meantime, to not lose momentum/excitement I've been busy with some minor beautification.
The double trigger is an iconic part of the design so I got that sorted fairly easily by cannibalising a trigger from the mini blaster.
They won't function as such but are pretty sturdy against the attack of curious fingers..
My mini pipe cutter arrived today too so I set about cutting down the barrel insert I've already started on..
The issue here is that the pipe is barely 1mm thick so needs to be fattened up somehow to look more badass..two options present themselves now the first is my trusty rubber washers...
or this cheeky little leftover from a mini scope..it has a lens so looks quite cool, if not screen accurate (so what?) not sure which to go for yet though....
With the backup blasters sitting in thier packaging still it struck me that I could cut out the half laser sight on it and also on my hero I'm working on and by carefully sanding and cutting could put the two halves together to create a more 'standout' rod...
and lastly for now, the two halves after a few coats of primer...much better...

minor setback...I hope...Applied a testcoat of gloss black on one half of the toy and not only is the gloss really hideous (enamel hobby spray - big mistake) but as I took the masking tape off so off came the gunmetal coat along with primer....doh!
any tips on a gentle way to remove the hideous enamel? thinners and a sponge?
Anyway, so the lesson learned here is...sand first, DON'T use cheap primer and stay away from hobby paints! (I usually use automotive paints to great effect)
Inother news I may have a shipment of the original toys late this week to pass on...fingers crossed for that too
and on...
Respect

I would just get at it with 1500 or 2000 grit wet/dry. You can sand out all the runs and get the gloss back with a clear coat. |

The easiest way is to dip it in Pinesol (original pinesol only no Lemon) it will take all the paint off without harming the plastic. Leave completely submerged in covered plastic container for 24-48 hours and then simply wash and scrub off excess under cold water.
Sanding takes forever. |

I've never stripped paint off thin sheet plastic like that. I've had bad luck with paint removal from plastics. With resin you can use oven cleaner to strip off paint without damaging the resin. It melts plastic though, so be careful the stripper you choose doesn't just turn your thin plastic there into a gob of goo.
If you still have the grips lying around, I'd test the paint remover on those first to make sure it doesn't destroy the material.
Good luck to you! _________________ I don't have enough blasters! |

Non acetone nail polish remover also works, and it wont melt plastic. _________________

Since you have some pieces you cut off you can use them for tests. I have heard oven cleaner will work for this too, but the plastic you have looks to be styrene, and may melt with just about anything.

Pine sol (original) is 100% safe on plastic.
Non Acetone remover takes too long
Oven cleaner does not always get every nook and cranny and is very very toxic. |

well..the news is bleak for acquiring more of these toys...the shop that previously stocked the toys no longer has them. there are a number of similar stores around town that I'll try today but if that draws a blank then we're in trouble.
The toys themselves have no indication as to who manufactered them apart from the Spanish distro who refused to help as I am not a: Spanish nor b: A store willing to buy a ton of boxes, they couldn't even confirm if they had the toy in stock or not...
I do have a telephone number from them tho of a small family run shop in Barcelona who might have some...maybe I dreamed the whole thing? did I really find these toys? am I really here?....

I live an hours drive from Barcelona and also speak Spanish, I´d bo more than happy to check this out if you want me too.
Also searching for BR toys but not this one, I´ve got a few of the other type with lights and sounds, made in china but bought in the UK. Searching for a snub toy. |

I'd be interested in one of these if you could find one in Spain. |
