I don't know how many of you folks follow the newsgroups but there's been some really interesting stuff posted over the last year or so by Raine Hilson on alt.fan.blade-runner. She was Vangelis's sound engineer in the early 80's and her recollections are fascinating and quite detailed.
Apparently 'Rachel's Theme' was originally scored to accompany the shots of Roy discovering Pris's body!

PS: I hope you hardcore prop guys on here don't mind the posting of more general BR-related stuff.
No offence to the other sites out there but even for discussion of stuff not directly prop-related, this place is hard to beat. |

Thanks for sharing, very entertaining discussion with Wilson. The process is always facinating to see/read and we're always glad to see other boards and glean info from them. |

On one hand, wait, they still have newsgroups?
But yeah, thanks for the link! We love all aspects of Blade Runner and the making thereof.

The AFBR newsgroup has been pretty desolate the past few years, but I still check in now and then. The Raine Hilson stuff has been very cool though, but a lot of it is very technical stuff that only musicians would really get into. Still she has some great insight into Vangelis's working methods, and has painted a great scene from that time.
For the record AFBR was the place that Charles de Lauzirika was an active fan member for many years, and the place that influenced the content for the 2007 box set. Many of these guys I still keep in contact with on Facebook now. A real great bunch of guys (and a few girls too). They also were the crew that created the Blade Runner FAQ at BRMovie.com, and many of these guys still run websites dedicated to Blade Runner.
There is over a decade, maybe decades worth of great stuff on there. If you connect to it through google, you can also get updates on the new posts there, even if there is no where near as much discussion there as there used to be.
