Looking good Fen...I don't know if it's because of the light in the original picture but did you try your fonts in bold? |

The original font used is Square Slab Serif 711... I only know this because I spent a very long time asking around so I could use it in a DVD menu
Let me know if you have any trouble finding it and I'll point you in the right direction. |

Aye, Jonno! Thanks.
I've found a free version of a 'medium' weight.
Do you know if the one used in the film was medium, light, etc.?
Also: where to get the font, please. |

A quick attempt:
This is 'normal' (i.e. medium), 36pt with a character pitch of 135. However I've also had to squash the height by about 40% for proper proportions - perhaps the distortion was an aspect of the VDUs they used in production?
A darker glow and a slight blur finish the effect quite nicely. PM me for further details on how exactly to achieve this... |

Hello, all! Thanks for the kind replies. Unfortunately, the Medium variant does not seem to work properly, at least it doesn't on my computer. The Light version works very well, though.
Haven't been able to find out what the problem is yet. Might well be my ten-years-old pc.
Love this forum!
Cheers,
Jens (that's a German variant of John) |

This is just speculation, but if they filmed it live from a normal monitor with a ratio of 4:3, and then stretched it to fit the film frame (2.35:1?), that would result in an equivalent 'squash' of around 45%. Pretty close to what you found!
So that's one possible answer? _________________ Mike
