Saw the film today and...all I can say is, "Wow!" Hit with so much visually and cinematically, plus a plot that wouldn't stop...I feel a bit like Shaw looks at the end of the film. Hoping there's another one up Ridley's sleeve. I'll be chewing on this one for a while. Gonna have to put in my order for the "Art of..." book and the soundtrack. Wow! |

OK, saw it and loved it BUT, am I missing something here?
SPOILER ALERT!
Where did the space jockey in the chair from "Alien" come from if he was killed in the pod in "Prometheus"? He didn't get up and walk back there and put a helmet on... _________________ Hollywood is the only industry, even taking in soup companies, which does not have laboratories for the purpose of experimentation.

Panaflex -
As I see it - not necessarily the same jockey, or the same ship. There were several.
Thoughts, anyone?

Hmm, didn't really consider that just because I thought this would be the only unburied ship on the planet and thus the possible continuity error?

I know I saw at least four temples on the planets surface though they only went inside one.....and probably more ships.
Plus Shaw rapells out of the crashed ship with David, and takes off in another....
I definitely feel this is a different ship/s to the one we see in Alien. |

You guys are so right AND and so wrong.
I went digging and found this great article. Well reasoned information and the kicker... look at the section on location. LV-223 and LV-426.
So it's not only not the same ship, it's not even the same planet!
If i had been paying more attention to the planet name in "Prometheus" I would have caught this after seeing the other movies so many times.
Enjoy the read.

Now, with Panaflex's find, it's "confirmed" - they're not only different worlds, but apparently different systems entirely. . .
Kinda. But not necessarily. . . . Not according to Ridley.

I had to look up that stuff on Wikipedia Yep Rep13, seems to me that we're not moving either way (if I understood the theory ).
Problems trying to tie-up the different stories will occur for sure...hopefully, everybody will be on the same page at the end of the day and will not forgot those titbits of interviews when comes the time of tying it all together |

I still haven't seen the movie (too much to do and so little time)but I read Gavin Rothery's blog and he's not a happy camper
Too many times, it seems, the story takes the viewers for idiots and when that happens, the suspend of disbelieve is broken hence the whole experience feels artificial. |

We all have our expectations, and afterward, our differing opinions. If possible, I think it's best to go into it somewhat blind, without too much info (difficult these days). Form your own opinions, before you become influenced by all the hype and all the criticism.
I've listened - then missed my chance to enjoy several really good ones on the big screen, only to regret it later after viewing it on the small.

The criticisms to this film are almost identical to what was said about Blade Runner and the original Alien. Not saying this is as good as them, but I knew I would be disappointed if I went in with high expectations. I was a little disappointed by BR the first time I saw it for that reason, but later loved it more and more. I am glad I went into Prometheus with an open mind, because I really enjoyed it. I had a couple issues with it, and maybe I can ignore them over time just like I did with seeing the stunt woman crashing through the glass, or a lame happy ending, or a few other things I could point out in other movies I love. Regardless this film gives us a lot to discuss with it, and that alone will give it longevity. It helps though that the craftsmanship is also impeccable.

I saw PROMETHEUS for the third time this afternoon - skipped work to take in an early show. This outing I saw it at an IMAX in 3D. I must reflect on what Noeland stated earlier - apparently there is quite a bit of difference from one 3D theater to another. I was not overly impressed with my second viewing (3D) last Friday. It seemed only semi-"dimensional" - most of the scenes were rather flat. Whether it was the IMAX or just a better projection this time, in comparison, this version was AMAZING!
Having seen it before, I could overlook any concerns and just enjoy the film.
And as Andy hinted - as we look back, we may not be quite so critical. Yes, perhaps it takes a couple of questionable turns, but again, in most aspects, I think PROMETHEUS is excellent. And in IMAX 3D - WOW!
I will be interesting to see what Sir Ridley does with the new Blade Runner!

Speaking of craftmanship, I recieved the new Art of Prometheus book today - it is superb. Well worth a look and probably the best movie concept art book I've owned (and I used to own quite a few). |

Is it as good as Alien Vault? That one had a pretty cool bluprint of the Nostromo in it |
