Well i have an Off-World blaster, but i just happened to look on ebay.co.uk and there was a seller, which had a solid blaster for £42. No moving parts, but metal, and it looked okay. Well i bought it. I hope i dont regret it. Blasters dont come around too often, and it looked just too good. Hey! Maybe its the one i can go a bit mad with, take to a costume party, and will let other people touch ha ha..
Best of all...its a UK seller, so no customs tax!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is it with Blade Runner. I suppose like any film we really love, be it Star Wars, we will buy anything connected with it, provided it doesnt bankrupt us... _________________ He can breath okay, as long as no one unplugs him |

By the look of it, it is a PKD. Solid Resin. Will see what it looks like when it arrives. I have seen similar ones on ebay with working lights, but no paint job, and from Australia, meaning customs tax.
It was an impulse buy, but blasters dont come along too often, and it is a case of buy now, or forever regret it. The seller has got excellent feedback.
Will post photos later this week. _________________ He can breath okay, as long as no one unplugs him |

It looks like a rather poor copy of Rick Ross' PKD
If you take a look at the thread "Blade Runner Blaster Comparison. Add your pics…" http://www.propsummit.com/viewtopic.php?t=158&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=80 (bottom of the page) you will see Batty's lovely build.

Yes it does seem the same, but we will see. Its the first one i have seen on the ebay market already assembled for quite a while, and coming from the UK being the added bonus. But like my Off-World blaster, it will look slightly different, when i have changed the paint job on it etc.. watch this space... _________________ He can breath okay, as long as no one unplugs him |

Well i might be surprised, who knows... i mean look at the photos of the Off-World, how amazing they made it look, then it had all those defects..
It was totally an impulse buy, and i can guarentee someone would have bought it if i hadnt, a bit like those ones always being sold from Australia. Even those toy laser guns that you convert sell so easily, just going to show how popular the blaster is.
If there was a guy selling a Richard Coyle up in Inverness for 150 quid, but the condition was i had to drive naked to collect it (17 hours on the road)..well i just might be tempted ha ha.... _________________ He can breath okay, as long as no one unplugs him |

Depends on the time of the year and weather your heater or A/C works..
I would be careful passing big trucks...
I think it was a good deal, but I fear I am bias.

i got one of these at a collectibles place near me. Upon coming home to research the maker i found it was a recast. Coolmodels/arsenal to be exact. Its a really bad cast and the grips are way too big for the gun. I only paid $40 for it and the guy i bought it from was cool and also had no idea until i went back and told him. I just picket up a racprops kit, so my crappy recast will serve as my police special. |

|
|
Well my PKD came through and it is a bad recast, which looks like it has been struck by a thousand minute ballbearings, but this i only discovered when i removed the paint.
The seller, with respect, had bought it from another seller, and was obviously happy with it, and the bad paint job, but i wanted it to be something more. Hence i have stripped the paint off, got my scalpal out and improved the shape in places, with a lot of sanding thrown in for measure. I am beginning to start the paint job, and there will be a photo by the end of next week. Watch this space as they say. _________________ He can breath okay, as long as no one unplugs him |

That's a pretty rough recast. I actually bought that one a few years ago and tried to save it. I made a custom metal grip frame and butt plate as well as spring loaded triggers.
My "hand made" grips turned out slightly better I think.

Rich, just a comment on the look of the grip, not the "hand-made" process a lot of us, propbuilders, are using to make props.
I thought they were poorly made and if making adjustements/mods to this gun to make it better that was an area of concern: better replace these grips with something closer to the real thing, therefore improving the overall look |

Guns should look "Machined" and not "Hand Made", and it takes real craftsmen to make hand made things look machined. Unless you are going for a "Primitive" look

Well i am leaving the handle as it is. I cannot take it apart, as it is very solid, making painting a little tricky, but with a lot of careful covering with paper, and spraying, then touching up, it is getting there. I have just seen the original photo i posted, and it is almost unrecognisable. It took me a whole day, to clean up with paint thinner, and the sanding down, and scalpal / trimming the resin, to make it even remotely paint worthy. I guess i always wanted a PKD. Heard so much about them, and, it has become a challenge. It will be nice to see the end result though.. i hope.. _________________ He can breath okay, as long as no one unplugs him |

Here is my painted PKD. If you scroll to the very top, that is what it looked like when i purchased it. Its not a great paint job, but i think i did the best i could with a kit, which was a bit defective.
Oh, the the grip. That is actually a surgical dressing called a Mepilex lite. I simply cut it to shape, and spray painted it. It looks a little bit Cowboy-ish, but i think it works. _________________ He can breath okay, as long as no one unplugs him |
