Picked mine up today. I got one for myself and one for my bro, though I'm so blown away by the quality of this kit I think I want to buy another one just to make the police version!!
Castings and detail are just spot on and flawless in every way. Great work Mune and team!
The only problem I have at the moment is that I cant seem to fully open the bolt lever (and therefore remove it from the receiver). It seems to be stuck when I lift it up. Not sure if the gap needs filing down? Has anyone else had this issue? _________________ "F*ck it, it's just a movie. Let him worry about it" Harrison Ford |

I had some trouble too but I just pulled up when the gun
was together and it opened. It almost locks into place .
Don't be afraid to pull up on it, it will open up. |

Use a felt pen to color the channel. Then use some force to get it out.
after, you'll see where the metal scraped off the ink. Just lightly file or
sand it. and you'll be good to go.
It's a common issue. _________________ Que la Force soit avec toi |

I hadn't been paying too much attention to the discussion over the color of the grips provided with the kit until I had them side by side with the pre-assembled Pro I bought a couple of years back. Wow! did they ever miss the mark with the color for the kit! On the left is a grip from my Pro, on the right, from the kit.
Given all the extra effort Tomenosuke put into revising some of the details on this otherwise excellent kit, I'm surprised this got by them.

Yep. I don't know - they handled the original, and maybe that's the color they look in person? But they definitely need to be darkened. Haven't had a chance to go back with mine and try the ink on the back trick. |

I did a little research and it is possible to dye certain types of plastic with Rit dye. i might give it a try. _________________ Dave

I would say what you want in the color is just about 1/2 way between the two...

The Rit dye will probably kill the transparency of the grips.
What I have done in the past is us Tamiya clear orange and/or a little clear red and airbrushed it on the inside of the grip only. You don't need to do the outside where your hand actually touched the grip.
Works like a charm! |

Funny they got so close and then a fumble...

With the attention to detail evident on the rest of the kit, I would imagine they had a good reason for it.
It's not likely they'd just get it 'wrong', and then let it go.
They really don't seem to be the kind of people to do that.....
I'm not disagreeing that they seem to be very light and very yellow in colour, I'm saying there must be a good reason.
Regardless, I really don't want the grips on my blaster to be that colour. I'm going to email Mune and ask if he can ask the guys at Tomenosuke if they can make the assembled Pro grips available to us.

I just heard back from Mune.
It seems you were right, Rich. The grip colour is incorrect.
Mune said they knew the colour was off.
I asked if they would offer the darker Pro grips for sale. He said Tomenosuke had no plans to offer them. Nor to offer a new darker grips set specifically for the kit.
The advice direct from Tomenosuke themselves is to 'Darken them with paint' apparently.

Thanks for asking them, Karl.
Pretty poor show from Tomenosuke and that surprises me for all the obvious reasons already mentioned. I would like to think that if we all individually email them, we might persuade them otherwise.
It is certainly worth a try..... |

Just make a mold with the original grips and
re pour them. I played around with some
grips that I had and re poured them and I
could make them as dark as I wanted.
The only problem I had was bubbles but then
again I didn't try very hard to get them out,
it was just a test for coloring.
I know that the coloring is off but with mine
as soon as I put them over the black inner and
outer grip frame they got pretty dark so I'm
sticking with the originals. |

Or, a member here could offer aftermarket amber grips...
Surely Tomenosuke wouldn't be upset. Since they're not going to supply them, there's no market to rob from.
It would need to start with a set of original grip models, naturally.
Might be a good opportunity to sort out the checkering too

I weighed in on this over at the RPF, here's, more or less, what I said overthere.
Having cast amber grips for my snub nose blaster kit I can tell you that dialing in the color is a royal PITA. The red dies are extremely potent and the yellow dies not so much. Plus the shade of color is also effected by the thickness of the casting, so what looks right in the bottle doesn't when cured. Given all this, I have no intention of offering color corrected amber grips. However... I am considering making clear colorless grips as were shown in an early Tomenosuke blog post. Those look really cool with the un-blued metal parts. But if I do them I would not be pulling molds off the Tomen grips. RECASTING IS BAD! Even if it's to get something that doesn't otherwise exist and even if Tomenosuke dropped the ball on this one it's not really right to just pull a mold off their grips and sell color correct castings.. So I would be milling new grip patterns. Besides, I'm not completely happy with the checkering on Tomen's grips. It looks like they laid a checkered sheet into the grip pattern and puttied to blend the two together. A little ragged around the edges. A minor criticism for such an outstanding kit. But before I attempt clear resin grips I'm going to mill up some hardwood ones like I made for my snub nose. That'll look cool! _________________ Dave

Will follow your tribulations with the grips with utmost attention Dave.
And seeing the two grips side by side, I'm afraid that's the major flaw in the kit...don't know why they didn't make them like the ones on their first gun |

I agree the color of the grips, and quality of the checkering is bothersome on this kit. I also have been comparing it to my real gun parts, and they definitely made some modifications to the design of these babies. Still the over all quality of the parts is gorgeous, but you know how picky we prop collectors can be.

Has anyone tied on the green LED's?
I was thinking of modifying my Pro. But w/ there convoluted electronics.
I'm hesitant to start my typical "process of elimination" way of figuring
things like this out. _________________ Que la Force soit avec toi |
