Wow.

That's a powerfully ugly design...

A display stand should never compete with the design of the object nor obscure it. This does both. A good display stand should be unassuming and almost invisible. Not sure about this at all.

Is it possible that that is the backside only of the display, and from the front you don't have the weird zig zag?

We might be missing something here. We might be making assumptions on the final design. It is possible it is something we don't expect, but it does seem like an overly complicated design.

Yeah...true. Maybe there is something more than meets the eye here, rather than the obvious. Even so, I think it should display with the barrel at a horizontal position. Cool

^^
This! It's not a fighter jet that you display in a "attack position" for a monument. It's a gun and it should be display into a "straight canon position"

I agree.
The barrel horizontal 'feels' like the the natural display position to me. The 'shooting ducks' position just doesn't look right...

The stand is up and with a special mention of the PropSummit comments…

I guess my expectations were dead on. It seems the purpose of the stand was to not scratch the blaster on any of its painted areas. I guess it does do that, but it does also distract very heavily from the blaster itself. It is like it is the guy that was hired to be a background extra in a play that suddenly does cartwheels in the front of the stage. Very Happy

I will admit though, that it isn't as bad as it could have been, and it does do its job well enough.

Thanks staar for the update on this.
It looks better than what I expected..... not that bad really. They went for functionality more so than aesthetics according to their write up...and I saw Propsummit got a mention. Ha. Cool

One of their other proposals along with their comments below:

"The image shown above is one of the prototypes created with reference to the display stand made by a fan overseas.
If feasible, we were planning to obtain permission and mass produce it, with royalty payment.
However, the optimal sense of stability that we sought was not achieved, and so we decided to not adopt it
Also it offered little versatility;. another reason for not going forward with the production was that all of OG, Shimada AP, PRO and Toku SP could not use it with a single design".

What additional 'versatility' does the hoogly design they adopted offer?

Don't get it...

My guess is my laid back folded plexy stand with either two posts or on my display case: a foot pad for the butt is the best.

And they did not want to copy me.

I am looking for a new guy that can cut, fold and maybe even laser etch my stands. I would need to upgrade them to handle the longer grips. The ones I got from the last guy were almost useless to me. I also designed an add on for a plaque that would have made them more stable and be able to be mounted in a shadow box better. They also would touch the blaster in just as safe and unpainted spots as this one does. I think I need to get back to those.
