According to this article the this vertical take off flying car is 8/12 years from mainstream production.
Abit later than 2019 but only by 8 years we may have spinners in our lifetime after all 😉.

Unfortunately, until you can implement a reliable traffic control and safety system, this is a disaster waiting to happen. People can't avoid running into each other when we only have two dimensions to deal with (there were nearly 11,000,000 vehicle accidents in the US in 2009 alone), imagine how many more we'd encounter by adding up and down to the mix. You then have two (or more) vehicles plummeting to the ground, spewing wreckage along the way. Now, you not only have damage and casualties from the accident itself, but from anyone/anything beneath it.

Add to it that a mechanical failure is a whole lot more troublesome if you can't just coast to the shoulder or stop where you are.
