|
|
I have a opportunely to have a small run of my Blade Runner Bolt, (without the cocking handle) just the bolt body and the needle in front made on a CNC machine in Aluminum. This will fit my receivers, and PERHAPS others.
The FIRST question in is anyone interested in getting copies??
We need to get an idea of how much interest to then have the shop work up a cost projection.
We will need at least 10 good orders so I will want 20/30 serious replies.

If you would post a pic more people would know what you are talking about and that it runs from back of the gun to the pin thing that protrudes from that circular cap at the front of the Steyr and would highlight the part of the bolt seen through the ejection port. |

Here are some pics of the proposed run part. I call it the "bolt rod assembly" and it goes from just inside the rear Steyr cap to the "pin" that comes out of the front cap. It will be made of one piece of aluminum so it will be strong, the pin can be machined very precisely, and the portion that is revealed through the Steyr ejection port can be left rough, polished to a mirror like finish, or something in between.
The above pic shows a resin and a low melting point metal casting of the "bolt rod assembly." The "run" is for this part to be precisely machined out of one piece of aluminum. Note: the bolt handle is not included, the run will be for the rod assembly as better illustrated by the black, resin version above.
Above is a pic showing the part of the bolt rod assembly that shows through the Steyr's port.
Parts above highlighted by arrows are part of the assembly.
When the bolt handle is lifted, this is what is revealed through the Steyr port. |

We are working on that, depends if we can get enough interested people to justifiable a run, 10 real orders are the least number.
Eltee and I are working together on his machined Steyr parts and this new bolt.

Photos are not of my build. Picked off the internet, for illustration purposes. |

Hi all
I was thinking the same, that blaster build looks great. Then I took a closer look and realised it is mine!!
Those photos must be 4 or 5 years old now. I don't think I have them anymore so it's nice to see them again.
I remember sweating over making that bolt. Turning and milling the steel. Loads of fun!! |

Rich
Is it possible that these could be a part of the next run of completed blasters?
Cheers

Yours was a beautiful build. Do you want me to look through my archive of blaster photos for the ones of your amazing piece and send them to you?
Do you have any photos or even tips on the bolt rod assembly you built? I hate to reinvent the wheel if someone has already invented a good one. I'll be concentrating on matching the "pin" in the front with the original prop based on photos, but the center section which is exposed through the ejection port is the challenge. It has to clear the top of the revolver yet be large enough to cover the port when the bolt handle is down. |

Hi Eltee
That's very kind of you. If you have a couple more of the quality of the ones you posted, please do.
I will have a look through the few photos I have to see if I took one of the rod during or after completion. I remember it was difficult work and you have hit the nail on the head when citing the issue of clearance on the turn and filling the receiver "window" when closed. I will post anything I find this weekend. |

I'll post pics when mine gets made. My machinist and I will try to determine time and materials, etc. on the build and maybe come up with a cost. We may set it up for the major piece to be CNC'd ... possibly. We've changed from a one piece concept to a one major piece and two little pieces tack welded on concept.
Mine should be done this week or next. I'll let Rich analyze the part and process and decide. |
