CH-CH-CH-CHANGES . . .

Critter -

We will await any other opinions, but in doing this I tried to hit all the logical bases. Skin-job and I discussed this, the content and specs, and it went through revisions before I completed the layout currently submitted here. Again, if this was a personalized version, we could address each item.

As the recipient, I purposely made Deckard's name slightly larger on the layout, but keep in mind this is issued to all in the LAPD. Primarily, it's a physical record, but as that, not all about Deckard. That distinction falls to the ID card. In the end, it (the blaster) remains "Property of the L.A.P.D." and the VIN card remains with the container.

I can make changes, but this must try to balance yours as well as others comments, while staying loyal to the subject. I hope you can appreciate that. But let's see what else is commented on before I jump in with a revised version.

As I said, some comments may prove valid, others purely subjective. And this is our interpretation. Smile

Thanks everyone. - R13

I must say I think R13 has done a great job on this.

As he said above, we did discuss all of this in some detail before the first version posted here.

For me, the discussion has reached its logical coclusion and I feel we should be able to move on.

R13 I'm sure will post his amended artwork for your collective perusal when he's happy with the changes.

Please bear in mind they will be the changes that Dave and I feel are appropriate, however.

They may not suit everyone perfectly.

We can debate the tiniest of details on this forever, and still not reach a version which everyone is competely happy with.

So look out for the final version, then we can get cracking on the box itself.

I have the corners in, and the new box, so we have everything we need for the prototype box now. Apart from the finalized art for the plate.

I think we are all in good hands with you guys. Think the amendments worked and agree it is time to move forward.

Thanks

R13 is working on some amendments to the plate.
I've seen the artwork, pre final polish, and it looks great.
Dave and I are very happy with it.

I'm sure you guys will like it.

I'm waiting for another four corners for the bottom of the prototype box. I stained the box with a walnut/mahogany blend and sealed it with thin, tough coat of melamine lacquer. The melaimine seals the wood and stain, but it still has a very tactile sense, you can see and feel the grain.
I didn't want to lose the wood in a heavily varnished, 'plasticky' finish.

Here is the final design. Keeping in mind the size of the plate, I've made adjustments that I think address most of the concerns voiced. We are happy with the final result. Hope you are as well.

Thanks for your input and patience. - R13

Here is the test burn of the actual plate -

Just for clarification, this isn't an 'Update' as such. This is the test burn of the final artwork, in the material the plate will be made in.
You can't see the 'brushed metal' of the surface very well, as the contrast is high. But it looks like brushed aluminium.

I'm glad you like it.

It'll be stuck to the left side (as viewed from the front) with industrial doube-sided auto trim-tape.

Here is the sample VIN plate, placed on the new sample box which is stained and lacquered.

http://www.karlderrick.com/hosted13/box&plate.jpg

The plate is in the intended final position. You're looking at the left hand side of the box, as seen from the front.

The plate is positioned toward the front of the side panel, as you can see.

Imagine a few boxes stored on a shelf in a secure lockup, with just the end panels with the VIN plates visible.
That kind of thing.
