So far I have it set up that if you make 10 posts, the rank of community member is given to you. I actually dont want to make it complicated, but thought it would be nice to find out if anyone had anything they might want to add to this.
I am quite happy with just having Community Member, but I am open to the communities suggestions |

I like what you have now Amish but would be interested to see a ranking that has more reference to BR.
How about starting with a ranking of "Little People" and topping out with "Rep Detect"...? You could use all the name's of BR characters, places, objects, etc... |

No worries...I wouldn't want to start out with a ranking of "Little-People" so I don't imagine anyone else would either. |

Something inbetween "Community Member" and "Community Guide" would be cool.
Maybe for the top ten posters below you and Amish? |

Why not something like "NEXUS 1" for newcomers, then "NEXUS 2" after 10 posts, etc... It would end at "NEXUS 6" or even "NEXUS 7" after a certain amount of posts ???
Amish and Once-bitten, I think you then would be NEXUS 7 !!! (or even TYRELL / GOD !!!!!!!!)

Personally, I'm for no "rankings" at all. Feels too Orwellian ("All pigs are created equal, but some are more equal than others"). Plus, if you start tying anything to post count, we'll be hip deep in "Free Post" threads before you can spit.
The "Community Guide" term is really only to let folks know who sweeps up the carpets and empties the ashtrays around here. We've been very lucky (blessed) that the members here have all handled themselves admirably. There's been lots of cooperation and back-patting with very little grief. Kudos to everyone here for that.
I don't see any reason to fix what ain't broken. _________________ Pete |

I can vouch for ranks and post counts being little more than incentives for people to start posting for the hell of it. |

Well, as I said before on another thread, I'm a newcomer to forum world, I don't see evil everywhere regarding the ranks, number of posts on profiles and those kind of things... but you're certainly right about it, you're far more experienced than I am...

I think I am happy with the current setup. I have seen in other forums across the world, where people who gain a certain "rank" from having thousands of posts tend to belittle people who may only have a few posts.
I do not want to see that happen here. The community member rank in my opinion somes it up pretty well, we are all apart of this community here.
Also, I do want to mention, it is a great community and I thank you all for being apart of it _________________ www.propsummit.com
