Hey everyone!..So I have an Off World M2019 and only the red LED lights work!?..I want to wire up some 3mm green LED's in place of the dummies they have there and wire them to the housing where the on off switch is ...basically using the green board in there to power the new lights! Has anyone else done this and if so can you tell me what type of capacitors I need etc...any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks....

These are designed this way. In the movie, the green LED's never light up.

Having attempted this "conversion" myself, I would recommend replacing the OffWorld site rod with a metal version. Trying to drill out the plastic just destroys it.

The OffWorld red LED board doesn't support adding more LED's as the board burns out.

If you MUST do this you will probably need to rewire the whole set up.

You can use the OffWorld ammo cover as your housing, replacing all the red LED's and adding the green LED's. You will need to solder all the LED's the "old fashioned"way (no board) and a 23A battery.

See Rich Coyle's instructions on how to wire it using his diagram as a base. Or use the SID or RR kit instructions for the red LED's and Rich's green LED instructions.

You can buy all the LED's and everything else you will need from Radio Shack. They sell a pack of 3mm and 5mm various color LED's for less than $5.00. and a mini solder kit for $10.00.

It will take you about 2-3 hours to complete and test everything.

If you do not know how to solder,(I did not) watch some clips on same on U-tube

OR if Rich has any of his pre wired Ammo housing kits for his blasters still for sale BUY IT. It will fit an OffWorld. I test fit one on an OffWorld.

I don't know if his are still for sale as he "retired" due to health issues.

Best of luck. If you complete this you should do a photo log and post it.

Best regards,

Thanks! I am going to do this conversion anyway at some point!? It seems silly yo me to have LED's on a gun that do nothing...your info is very helpful. .I actually build guitars so I have a good knowledge of wiring etc..but wasn't sure about the green board being able to be used! Thanks again...I will post some photos of the process once I get it done! Cheers!

The funny thing is some time during filming they cut the wires for the green LEDs...so you can see the cut wires in the close up against the wall and again when Dickard drops his piece...

And they were not on when he chases Zora even when you can see the red LEDs including the bottom one lite.

FYI

OK!...I have officially started my Off World modifications... I used a drill press and a heavy vice grip to hold the sight arm in place. Then slowly I drilled out the front and back piece where the bulbs are...after that I used a Fordham drill to drill side holes in the arm so the wires can come out.
Next I soldered the green LED's to the wires and CAREFULLY slid them through the drilled holes. I had to bend the wires ever so lightly to get them to make the 90° turn to exit the sight arm.
After that I put the arm back on the plate and that's about as far as I've gotten yet...here are some pics...I will be rewiring the LED's next.

I could make your pictures show up but they are gigantic. You need to reduce them in size by about 75% at least. here is an example on how they would look here...

Here are the new photo links....

There you go...hope these help someone, sometime...
I will post up the LED rewiring once I get that going. I found my old schematic for my Pflager Katasuma PKD model...I might use that as my base and try to add the green LED lightsto that plan...
Pictures to come as soon as I get it all working...

That should do it. All you have to do is while in the message reply board, is highlight the image address and click the "Img" button in the control panel for each image. No spaces in front or back of the address. If you try to edit your message you can do it at any time and can see how it looks with the tags placed.

If you highlight the image address there can not be any spaces in front of, or behind it when you hit the "img" button. You also have to do each one individually. It should end up looking like this before you post it... not...

If you hit the space or return you need to make sure you highlight only the address and none of the spaces before or after, including line breaks. It does take a steady hand, and might be tougher on a phone or tablet device. I think we used to have a tutorial somewhere, but I have been on these old BBS forums for so long it is ingrained in me now.
