They do, which is part of what tipped me off. I just don't like to make proclamations without evidence. Mine came pre weathered due to the parts getting loose in the box, and the scuff marks on the frame and cut off "sprue" areas are metallic.

This is very interesting.

Anything's better than black plastic.....

Mine won't be here for a while. Can someone who has one test an unimportant area, perhaps the sprue.

Also, If anyone could tell me the length from the flat at the barrel end, to the barrel/frame parting line, moulded into the model ( the line where the barrel would detach if it were the real thing) I would really appreciate it.

Many thanks,

Karl

Hey Proper I got mine today and the length looks
like 4 1/16 inches. That's with a tape measure,
my calipers are out in the shop Very Happy .
Man this kit is clean. The box it shipped in was
beat to hell but the smaller box that the kit came
in was in perfect shape.
I just tried some gun blue on the inner grip frame
and I think it will work just fine for finishing.

Congrats to all who got these! I have to agree, it's a fantastic kit from Tomenosuke.

Don,

Thanks very much for taking to time to measure for me, appreciate it.

The kit looks amazing.

I'm really intrigued about the frame and barrel being 'metallic'. It may be ABS with metallic powder. Possibly even powdered aluminium. They also used to strengthen ABS with mixed in glass fiber.

I plan on replacing the barrel with a custom steel one on mine, But it would be great if the Bulldog components could be stripped back to a 'steel' finish.

I wrote to Mune asking what the barrel/frame are made of and if it were possible to strip it for a 'bare metal' finish.

This was his reply:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Karl:

Bulldog parts are mix of ABS and Diecast metal. Barrel part is ABS.
Yes, you can make your own bare metal version.

Mune

I'm not certain this doesn't raise more questions than it answers Smile

Couldn't one just tale a hacksaw and file to the barrel and cut it off? Then create a plug at the end of the new barrel to fit inside the metal tube? Or is the metal connection solid?

I think I'm going to leave mine alone. I took
steel wool to my cylinder last night and the
edges of the flutes turned to a bare metal
look, like it was made from metal. That is the
look I'm going for (slightly used).
As for the barrel, I plan on zinc coating it
and then bluing it like the rest of the gun.
It feels like the barrel is about as heavy as
if I were to make my own.

Keeping in mind that fools rush in, that is very prudent of you, Mr. Parker. IMO, there is much to be risked and little to be gained by altering this prop.

That was my other concern - would a barrel replacement throw the balance of the piece off in any way?

I got mine in the mail today and have spent a a few minutes with it, and am over all impressed with it, but my first mild complaint came up pretty quickly. I am wondering why the box was made with the cutout of a partially assembled blaster, but not the fully assembled blaster? I really am kind of annoyed that if I build the kit, it will no longer fit in the box. Confused

Still I do really love the attention to detail I am seeing in this thing. I need to spend a lot more time looking this thing over.

Here is Mune.

thanks for everybody to put comments on the kit. I am very happy to hear all of you.

I have shipped pretty many kits to worldwide locations. However, some of pre-orders(with police conversion parts) are not fulfilled yet due to no answers. If someone wants to add this kit in your collection, please send me e-mail. You might have good chances to get the conversion parts.

Thanks.

That should be easy to fix. Confused Carefully cut the cardboard that is there to the required shape [EDIT: Oh I see what you mean, not that easy to just cut it out to shape, since there are interfering existing precut holes where you kind of don't want them]....or place new foam inside box with the required cut-out to fit the built-up gun. ...etc. etc.
I understand your concern though .... maybe they could have included a replacement "insert-board" as part of the kit or the existing board could have been pre-cut to allow for a full build-up. Never mind.... easy peazy fix. Congratulations on getting one !

Congrats for everybody getting this kit and as cratercritter has mentioned, the replacement cut - out part in the box shouldn't be difficult to achieve since it's not very snug in the first place Wink

Damn, I am still so tempted by this kit

They look awesome, congratulations to everyone who is getting hold of one,

I'm just not 100% convinced I'd get it into the UK without problems or without being charged a big customs fee on top,

I have no luck with this stuff

I've currently got the lower half of a Han Solo Blaster MIA somewhere in the postal system that I'm not convinced that I'm ever going to see & that was only coming from Europe & it was half the price of this kit,

sure would love one though

maybe I should just hope that some people get them in the UK & then decide to sell on their old Blasters my way Wink

Looks like they build the sections that require advanced skills?
The electronics & all the mechanisms related to the trigger pull.
The assembly of all the pieces needed to rotate the cylinder w/ each
pull of the trigger is tricky. & not for average Joe.
And if the elec. are the same as the "Pro"?
The lights don't just "come on". They have capacitors that amp up
the power. So they "phase" on. Starting off dim, then slowly brighten.
Very cool feature.
But again, quite complicated. Trust me when I tell you. They saved you
a lot of time and frustration.

The pieces in the box are loose and just fitted together, un-screwed. No real pre-building. I am okay with that part. I like building stuff. No battery in the magazine either, but the electronics are assembled. I can't wait to build it, but would really love to be able to store it in the original box. It would been a brilliant idea to have the cut outs in the box set up for the finished gun or with a second template. It seems like a compromise for some reason. It also is making me want to keep it un-built.

I am extremely grateful to Tomenosuke and Mune at HCG for making a kit available at an affordable price. I will never regret buying it no matter what I finally decide what to do. I can see a lot of love put into the entire package by people that both love the film and the prop. Simply gorgeous, and not a commercially made product just made to capitalize on the fans, but a 21st century work of art.

If I was in that sort of dilemma Andy...maybe keep the original cut-out board as is, pristine original condition. Build the gun and then display the gun either out of the box somewhere or keep the built-up gun in the box with a new board cut-out made to suit the gun. Or construct some cool looking foam so it fits into the original box...whilst still keeping the original cut-out board somewhere in the box, hidden underneath or store it somewhere (don't throw it away).

I havne't received mine yet, therefore I don't know if this will work.
But if the wrong cutout for a completed Blaster is the problem, why not have a new cutout made?
I should be able to easily make the file to have it either CNC'ed or laser cut if anybody has that sort of equipment. The part I'm unsure of is the thickness of the blaster. Would the original box be deep enough?

Hiding something this nice in a box is a capital sin.
Get one of those cool ass stands from Dave G (if he ever gets is butt in
gear & makes them) LoL.
And put it someplace where you can just sit & stare at it for hrs.

When I first got my Tome Pro. I rigged a stand on a old turn table.
I rearranged the gears to spin super slow. put it on my coffee table,
turned the LEDs on, got a beer & just stared at it.

Me & Selma. together @ last. hahahahaha.....

My wife was like "REALLY"????

I just told her... "Baby, you don't have it in you to understand".
Selma completes me.
