Wow, looking at that video really convinces me that they did not miss a single detail with their rendition of the blaster.

Well, let me backtrack and say that the rust from the actual WorldCon is missing, but I think I prefer the Tomenosuke version. I only regret that I don't have the means to obtain one.

It's a stunning recreation, that's for sure, but is it worth 5 to ten times what a Coyle or Sidkit costs here?? We'll see what the market will bear ......

I'm watching an auction for the standard finished Tomenosuke Blaster right now.

With two days left, it has 28 bids on it and the price has gone up from the opening bid of JPY 140,000 (the price at which Tomenosuke Shoten originally sold this piece) to a current bid of...

... JPY 451,000!

This is the standard T-Blaster, mind you, not the AP.

JPY 451,000... that's over US $4,900.00.

Granted this piece is being auctioned with a couple of nice extras -- for example, an authentic Weaver knob. But still! It's pushing the retail price of the AP! Shocked

It makes me wonder what the AP will be able to fetch on the block...

The end of the barrel bevel still seems a little off Wink

Yes, the collectors in Japan are on a whole nother level with this in terms of time and money spent. [cue Vapors song]

Not having seen one in person so to speak , _I've had to rely on photographs articles and news releases -so I am going to reserve 'Final Judgemment' - but first impressions - yes it's a good model , but it has no better functionally that Rich's All Metal CS&T , yes it's well made and precise , so is Rich's , but at that sort of price it is riduculous , five times the price!! - I cannot see the justification of that, unless they were never going to make one ever again and then you could say it was a real limited edition - but that isn't the case, rather they are going to repeat the run, I expect history to repeat itself and these will go for a small fortune as well !!

Maybe you're right, maybe you're wrong, I don't know... but there's a BIG difference between Rich and the Tomenosuke team :

Rich asked me 50 bucks to be on the waiting list for his Worldcon (almost 2 years ago). When I PMed him a year ago to inquire about my rank on his waiting list he didn't remember who I was... I've lost 50$ for nothing !

On the other hand, I was asked nothing to order a Tomenosuke... and I got one !

I won't be the guy who'll discuss the ups and downs of each models because I'll never have the "privilege" to get a RACPROPS Worldcon in the end... (and now that I have a Tomenosuke, I must admit I don't care anymore)

I wasn't quibbling about the differences - that's all down to personal taste and preference, - the point I was making or trying to , was about the price !! the Tomenosuke is now the most expensive Blaster you can currently buy, apart from buying a real deactivated Bulldog and Styer and marrying the two together at least then you'd get something that actually would be right and would be worth the expense!

I totaly agree with you, but in the other hand 50$ for nothing is too expensive... and I don't talk about the prices asked for Rich's blasters on eBay !

At this time I do not know what happen, $50.00 is not my normal down payment...

Email me and reopen this discusstion so I can figure out what happen.

I will need: your email address, your real name, your propsummit handel (then..some people change their names...) and your paypal handel/name.

IF you have been following the kit offered here, I ran into these same problems with handle VS real name VS PayPal name VS email address...

It is hard to tie all together and keep everyone connected to all their emails etc.

A few points in my defence, a) 61 years old, B) I get 100s of email C) very busy.

I will either refund you your $50.00 or credit it towards a model, once I find out what happen and that you did get it to me...

Rich

SKIN JOB 66 I just did a fast search and found you:
On PayPal: Feb 27, 2008 Payment From Frédéric Blanchard

In my emails under SKIN JOB 66:

Frederic BLANCHARD [surplusuniversalis@orange.fr] Wed 2/27/2008 4:04 PM

I found 6 emails all dated from 1008.

On PayPal your email is: fred.blanchard2@wanadoo.fr

I found no newer emails under your name and handle..

When you recontacted me I bet it was with a new email address and name and I could not find any other email under that new name and asked you to provide more info…

So why after all this time with me right here you could not email me or PM me and do this in a nicer polite way before complaing in puplic about my taking your $50.00??

I am guessing that you were insulted by my not knowing you and did not follow up.

I am sorry, I cannot even remember my wife's birthday or our wedding date: so I cannot remember everyone's many names and email address.

Even here I see three names/email address, can you understand my confusion??

And there is the 220+ emails address that are no longer any good that once were in my Blade Runner mailing list, people keep changing email address...

So it fred.blanchard2@wanadoo.fr still your PayPal email I will repay you your $50.00.

And as a follow up in my own defense:

From my Cox.net free provided McAfee virus protection trying to bill me for it, (it got so bad they claimed my subscription had ran out and shut down my protection, we had to uninstall it and reinstall it…a problem many have had with Cox’s McAfee protection…)

To the web site service trying to get a renew payment a year in advance, to all the other email scams from my bank to my service provider need me to prove who I am with all my personal info…

To fans whom clime I stole their ideas or models to fans who clime I owe them things and money: I do a fast search though the email for emails from that person (under the name and email that just came in…) and if I don’t see anything, I ask for more info and proof…

Can you really blame me??

Rich
