You could always upload the videos up to rapidshare. Sounds like they are trying to police bootlegging of movies, but they really don't have that authority.

In Obi-Wan voice:

"That's not a drawing... that's a 3D model!"

Great rendering, Voight Kampf! What software did you use to model that? Are you willing to share the files? I use SolidWorks 2009.

Thanks!

Yes, it was covered with graphite...in the scene at Tyrell's you'll see Harrison Ford "lifting" the V.K. out of its case. Surprised (in fact, there's nothing between his two hands to insure that the graphite stays on the prop and not on the actor's hand).

In the days before "Gunmetal" finish paints were made. It is funny how that prop looks a lot like products made in the late 80's and 90's with grey metal flake paints that became so common a few years later. Now it looks dated in that sense, but again, that is part of the movies charm. Actually I think that type of finish is still popular to some degree. I like it a whole lot better than the old tan color, and silver metallic that looks like Star Trek Next Generation stuff...I also just realized as I was typing this, my laptop keyboard inset is gun metal grey... Laughing . It seems my date for this style is off by a decade. Another thing Blade Runner predicted about the future it seems. Still I am pretty sure the reason HF did not handle the VK to put it on the table was that it was hardwired into table for the electronics.

Possible Andy...then again, they could've let Ford do his job and then cut to the scene when the VK is being powered Confused same diff. if you ask me Wink

Okay, somehow I missed this in all the VK discussion. Actually I think I saw it once but it did not register. He picks up nothing out of the case and sets it down. That is to funny. Watched this, God only knows how many times and never noticed.

I tend to think it was not because of the paint but because of the wiring as well. Although they could have had him take it out first then wire it in. I think it's safe to assume, as I'm sure it has already been stated, that that part of the shot was supposed to be from across the table so the case was blocking the empty hand shot and he decided to use the side shot instead.

Sorry, late to the party but damn that's funny.

Alright, soooo...no news concerning the project. As far as I can see it's on the back burner (you know life and stuff Rolling Eyes ).
Waiting for Propsjonnyb for any news would be a + for sure. unless someone has a better idea for that, oh forever, elusive V.K.

The VK was "painted" with opaquing fluid - the stuff you use on the back side of a Kodalith to prevent light from leaking through.

And the likely reason behind Harrison Ford pantomiming holding the VK was the fact that the bellows were operated by a little rod that went down through the VK and through the table to an operator below. Since this was a rig that was fairly complicated and in danger of falling apart, it was likely locked down on the table during the shoot.

Sorry for the necro-post.

Gene
