I was doing word searches on www.ebay.co.uk with Blade Runner in mind, and typed in Lego Blade Runner. What came up was a Lego Spinner. Made by a company called www.ichibantoys.com. It was 205 pieces, and although not endorsed by Lego, they specialise in making film replica Lego pieces.

I admit when i saw the design, i was quite impressed. Well it became an itch that wouldnt go away, so i bought it. It was £38, with posting of about £6. As is the way of course, i got caught with Customs / VAT nonsense, which was about £12. Total therefore. £56 approx.

Was it worth it? Well when i opened the box, i thought it was going to be the size of a hamster, but upon constructing it, i was quite surprised. The instructions were reasonably clear, but the age range of 12 plus, was definitely right, since you did need to use a bit of intuition to figure out bits, where the instructions werent 100% clear.
Bearing in mind this wasnt your typical Lego instructions, they did a pretty good job.

The overall result was quite impressive, although it is very fragile in design, meaning you can pick it up, push it along, but unlike your typical X-Wing fighter, you cant go mad with it. But the Spinner was never about that.
The pluses are, it looks as good as the images on ebay, and a lot of thought has gone into the design. The sliding doors which although fragile, are a nice touch, and it is pretty screen accurate, within limitations. The cockpit although fairly basic, does look nice. Basicaly three control panels.

The downside is, you cant fit minifigures in the seats, the canopy is just too low. But i have ordered a Lego minifigure off Amazon, that half resembles Gaff, and i am going to modify him, and have him stand near the Spinner.

So is it value for money? Well there are no other Lego models out there (apart from one mini one, which looks a bit naff) so it is a unique model, and i think it is going to be a limited edition, so i think in time its value will increase.
£38 then i suppose is quite reasonable, but for a similar size Lego piece in the shops, with 205 pieces you would be looking at about £15, but this being Blade Runner, a movie that is 30 years old, to even see anything like this on the market is a rarity. I would buy it again, knowing what i know now, but the Customs tax really does suck.

Anyone who wants to know more, dont hesitate to email me.

Thanks for the review Morgan9731...as you said, these are collectables and not "toys" (Lord knows that I like, from time to time, "play" with the props/models I've created)and while we should e-mail you for further details, a pic of your build would've been great Wink

I have been collecting pieces to make my own for a while now. I have made some small ones that aren't half bad, but I still want to make one of the larger ones that we had talked about here before. I am a little disappointed that they decided on the dark blue bricks for this one too. The classic Lego blue is actually pretty close to the actual car color, albeit set in a dimly lit atmosphere. Still very cool though, and another cross pollination of obsessions. Lets see some more pictures Very Happy
