Here's my drawing of main monitor housing of the "portable" VK, not the "hero" one.

I purposely removed the bellows from the blueprints for the sake of clarity (to see details better). These are not the final drawings. If somebody can add details that I haven't seen, feel free to do so.

FYI - the last picture is my interpretation of the VK case (one side only).

I was watching the extras about Phillip K Dick and they showed a pic of Deckard getting out of his car with the VK case in hand. You could clearly see the side of the case and a hole cut into it as well. My Vista laptop will not let me do screen caps unfortunately. I will try and post the scene info when I get home sunday night.

The side of the case is pretty simple with a set of ridges evenly spaced and a square hole cut into the lower right corner. It appeared to me to be similar to a typewriter/word processor case from the era. Possibly Ollivetti with their ultra modern design.

I have an Ollivetti Lexicon type-writer 1972 with the case and it doesn't match the case on Tyrell's table. When I reviewed the many designs of Ollivetti's cases I concluded that 99% of the cases are sleek and not at all like the one we've seen on screen.

Yup, the Olivetti case I was thinking off had ridges but much smaller and sleeker than this case. I am just trying to get us to look in other places than we have been. I could be pointing in the wrong direction though.

There are so many types it's not even funny! Here's my list:
1) Professional studio camera case (put your fav. in here: Panaflex, Ariflex, Mitchell, etc).
2) Telescope case.
3) Surveyor case.
4) Military case.
5) Mining instrument case.
Seeing the bulkness of the case sitting on Tyrell's table, I'm sure it's lined with forming foam to protect the V.K...but we never see the machine inside the case, nor the removal of the machine from said case...and
my wife doesn't understand why I cannot sleep at night.

Just for the Record "Studio Scale" Refers to miniature vehicles and such, not 1:1 scale props. These should all be in the "replica props" section. I will be moving them tomorrow.

This looks great!

How cool would it be to have a VK machine in your collection.

Can't wait to see it come together.

These are some really good drawings, Joberg. I am looking forward to building this sometime, started the "eye" the other day. Easily one of the coolest odd props ever IMHO. Thanks for posting these!

You're welcome...I wish that my VK was more screen accurate. Since that time I had the pleasure of seeing other pics and angles of that prop; so I will, in the future, re-visit that prop again.

Lurked on the RPF lately and saw Birdie ask questions about making molds for his version of the VK...we might see something in the future take shape.

Hi Joberg, Can you confirm, what in your opinion, is the correct sized case for the VK ? as I've just acquired a Haliburton Zero which is slight squater and about 2" wider that the Zero Slimline ! and as we know it was supposed to fit exactly in a case & yes I'm still ploding along with this as a project as well as everything else.

I'll check and confirm later but I believe it's supposed to be 18 inches long (don't quote me on that) Wink

O.k., the measures for the V.K. is 17 inches long by 12 inches wide (mine is 19 x 14). As soon as my Nostromo landing gear is done, I plan to re-do some of the blueprints with additional details.
