Is the new spinner/car sponsored/furnished by the French car manufacturer Peugeot -PSA Group ?

To me that new Spinner actually looks like an earlier model- not as bold and high tech as the Syd Mead version. The controls also look conventional, not to cool set Gaff was using.

I still would like a model kit of it though.

Same here- I would much rather get a Fujima 1:24 kit that a diecast- hopefully they will release the new kits since they do have the BR license.
(Still waiting for them to release a MetroKab kit)

Speaking of die-casts...some BR 82 die-cast are now quite expensive (when you find them Wink )

Interesting shot of the original Spinner in the new movie- looks like it is being used as a power source from the thick cables leading away from it

But it is not the same one we saw in the original film- notable differences are the front wheel swivel covers have different detailing and the oval window on the side which is split by the door is missing- a repositioned '44' is in that location

Strange to go with an inaccurate mock-up when the real one is still around- the new owners I would think would love to have it appear in the film in return for honor and credit...

Problem is/was that the mock-up was blown-up in the movie

Nothing that can't be worked around- I have seen plenty of landmarks blown up in wonderful detail with CGI.

I am thinking that the differences with this 'Power-Plant' Spinner and the ones from the last movie is more like the differences between a 1072 Ford LTD Police Car and a 1978 Ford LTD Police Car- same basic body with detail and style changes

Having seen one of the '82 spinners in person shortly after the release of the original film, and seeing the 2049 spinner last week at the BR Experience, my basic feeling is that the original looks and feels like a proper "Car" or "Vehicle". I can't say that about the 2049 version. It looks like a car-shaped prop, or set-piece. The finish is rough and very non-car-like. Very rough. And the paint is textured. When I say "textured" it is basically "sceniced", as in heavily worked on by the scene paint artists, to the point where it's gone way beyond what a real vehicle that has aged would look like.

Disappointed. I've interacted with one of the car-build crew and he seems to be very into the original car, so it sort of surprises me how this new one turned out. I expected more. Something more car-like and better than the spinner in the original. But then again, having someone familiar with the original cars on the new build crew is no way an indication that the new ones would look good. For the build crew they are just on a job, doing what they're told by higher-ups.

hauptfmann, I can understand your critique concerning the look of the new car.
As we have discussed in other topics, this movie has a lot of grey in it and the new car has that same grey metallic textured paint job look.

Like you, I would've preferred a better looking car, with some kind of shinier exterior (I think it's better for the reflections of lights and other things around the car)...but here we are Wink

The interior look is disapointing. It looks like a regular car with a couple of flat screens attached. A plain steering wheel? That doesn't even look practical for a vehicle that moves in three dimesions. Unless they use a different prop for the interior shots, this looks lame to me.
