I just realized I needed to give an update on this project. I recently (and finally) was able to crack a few issues I had been trying to resolve, primarily involving the upper scope and the lower singlepoint mounts.

Here's a recent finished build up....

Thanks for looking!

Shawn

Thanks, guys. I have to say that this really only happened because of Richie and Steve's incredible A L I E N eva suit project. They were the ones who contacted me and got it moving forward. It was their work that set the bar for this new version, and the information they provided, along with Chris Trevas (who supplied the correct vintage upper scope mount) was instrumental in getting this piece where it is now.

Just got one of these and I am hella impressed. Resin, metal, and clear pieces. The kit is a work of art.

Now, the perfectionist in me wants to modify it a bit. Lol! Anybody know what kind of scope rings these are and where I can find a pair?

Shawn uses real scope rings, but they are the short kind, so the scope will only mount upside down.

There was also some discussion as to what the crosshair labels are, but for the life of me, I can't find the thread. Did it have something to do with drafting?

Think I found the answer to my second question:

Glad you like it, Jerry. The scope rings I use are Weavers, and the closest I can find to the vintage ones used on the originals that are still commercially available in large numbers. And while the position of the scope on the version in Bob Burn's collection is difficult to achieve with these rings, I've other reference of another pistol in a private collection that show the scope turned at another angle, with one of the large windage knobs placed in the "6:00" O'clock position, facing downward from the pistol.

Technically, this would also be considered accurate. lol

Also, very interesting revelation with regard to the register marks!

Coolness. That's good to know. My 4-yr old has been playing with my Dallas figure for a while and he knew right off the bat who's pistol this was. lol!
