I measured my tupperware soap dispenser and it only tapers 1cm in total from top to bottom. I think the picture in the auction is from an angle that make it look worse.

A prop I'm 99% sure I've correctly identified is the NOSTROMO GLASS ! (yeah, we're going to talk about a glass, here !)

I've stumbled on it while searching for the NOSTROMO mugs source material on eBay.co.uk last year. Those JAJ cup were produced in the 70s. They're beautiful and half plastic / half glass.
That's the main reason why I think they ended in the Nostromo sets : They were maybe considered at a certain point, because of their plastic part, as a possible candidate for the mugs... but nothing can compete with Tupperware, so they were finaly used as glasses !
They're perfect in that role because they remind me the small glasses in use aboard airplanes, and I think that was the main idea in casting all the tableware and cutlery parts you finaly see on the Nostromo dining room set : an airplane meal.

Fred

Here is how to recreate it... Pretty simple isn't it, you won't even have to sand or paint it ! (the Weylan Yutani wing sticker is the same size as on the mug)

Very nice, but I'm not convinced it's the same one. The film ones don't appear to have the taper that yours do (they needed that taper to make them 'clip' into the plastic holders). Sad

Anyway, next time you take a picture put some tomato juice in there first! Smile

Damn, I really thought I had clearly identified the right glass... but you may be right, guys...

OK, I'll try to post a better screencap, they maybe used 2 different kinds of glasses... Stay tuned !

I didn't find more evidence of JAJ glasses used on the dining room set... but found something really weird instead in the "Destruction room" (for more info on this particular room, please go to pages 3 and 8 of this thread).

Look at what we have here !!! (after all, this thread is also about birds, so...)

I think they used to sell those in the Home Improvement stores in their garden decoration section when I was a kid.

Haha...cool find Fred.
Maybe the parrot was there so Parker could have an actual conversation with someone, lol.

He he...

Looks like Brett and his parrot are turning their back to each other... Tension between them is blatant in this pic...

Almost done with those...

I'll have to cut the feathers here and there (they're too long on the back), add a white band on the hats and then move to another project !

Thanks mates !

You can't imagine the nightmare it was to glue those blue feathers on the birds' bottoms (3 per bird, 1 tall in the middle + 2 small on the sides).

I ended with superglue and feathers parts on all my fingers... I was looking like a a kind of mad "Muppet ripper" !!!

Shocked Laughing

Damn prop addiction...

Hello. This is my first post.

Nostromo drinking Birds. I got this one about 10 years ago in a retro antiques shop off Colombia Road in London (where they have the flower market). I think it cost me £20 to £30 which was expensive really. But I knew if I left him in the shop I’d regret it. I’ve never been back so I don't even know if the shop’s still there.

It's a ‘Goofy Drinking Bird’ and seems to be made by ‘Bourne Of Harlesden LTD REGD. Design NO. 933564’. The only other lettering on the box is the word ‘Foreign’. Within the box is a set of instructions.

The feather on mine is a bit tatty and is white or possibly pink. I’m sure the props people added the light blue feathers and a matching blue band around the yellow hat. It’s possible this band has some writing or small logo on looking at the photo on the Quadrilogy DVD.

My plan is to give him some new feathers but I’ve not come across the right colour yet.

Welcome 8th_passenger. Good find! Those birds seem to be the right kind...now, I don't want to suggest to you to go to Belgium to get the right blue feathers (like Fred did), but good luck completing those guys.
