Are you going to metalize the grips on it?

I read somewhere that the nozzle was a threading bit from a tap and die set.

This thing is looking pretty "Hot" Wink

Thanks Andy!

actually I started shaping the stencils for the metal grips.. I need to add the spark-plug and spark plug wire, the metal grips (aluminum) and the metal triggers. Then I think I will use Space Jockeys Idea and make some kind of a wall tile to mount it to. People here really have some great ideas...

Excellent !!!

Can't wait to see it with the completed grips !!!

Yes, the mural display is a great idea, maybe you could also use some of Ron cobb's semiotic standards on it to add this distinctive little "Nostromo touch" we all love ?

Very good work all in all JTP...I would've put even more "dirt" on that flamer (my personnal taste) since on film, the used look doesn't look used unless there's a lot of sh#t on the prop .
Yes, like the others said: wall display that baby Cool

Thanks guys! joberg, you have a good point. I was trying to make it dirtier, but the problem is, i did a test spot that would show up ok in a picture, but then looking at it in real life, it looked like garbage.. when I toned back the weathering so it looks decent, its not so visible in the picture. maybe my camera is cheap

But on a brighter note, I did find some large square ceiling lighting grid that I will add a couple things to, paint it black and use it as a wall mount...that will look awesome!

Try taking pictures with a tripod and no flash. The overall white on the gun is washing out with the flash it looks like. Plus any small movement in the camera will blur out details no matter what the resolution. Another trick is to use a light background to keep the shutter speed/exposure fast with an automatic exposure.

Very nice work!

The weathering looks amazing!

Handle suggestion on the metal. It appears there is a radius edge
on the metal handle judging by the light reflection. Not sure
if you want sharp metal edges when you are torching the AvP crowd.

good eye! I did roll the radius edge to match how I did the slight radius on the plastic. It actually is flush... but yeah, thanks for the concern about the safety during incineratin' .cos there are a lot of em' out there...

What about using aluminum tape for the grips? Of course it would be ideal to cut and grind down the grips from a solid piece of aluminum.

Thanks Noble and Andy!

I used some aluminum sheet, cut it out and filed a radius to make it match the radius I filed on the resin grips themselves. I tried some aluminum tape, but it looked like aluminum tape, so I peeled it off and finished the side plates and glued them to the grips.

Space Jockeys' Idea was spectacular, so I bought some ceiling light grid from the hardware store, and painted it black satin (it took 3 cans to get all the angles on that grid...This is just kind of a start, I will put some weird blue lighting behind it,,,(it is a pain painting that grid ) Then I purchased some different sized weird tubing to add to the backdrop for the incinerator...

Very nice work!
And the biomechanical tubing casually draped across the front of the shot adds to the effect too.
