Well, well, well; what have we here? Good job JT! Love what you did with the display also...Seeing the final result, I might be inclined to put a flamer on my ever growing list of projects

Thank you very much guys! I will pm each and every one of you the address where to get one...

It is WELL WORTH IT... and with only minor modifications (im talking very minor) it can be made as accurate as Steve's Helmets!

Due to my loss of interest in ALIEN. I will soon be placing my stuff on ebay if anyone is interested. I will let everyone know when the stuff is ready for sale, maybe someone can pick up some decent things...time to move on There are 3 Nostromo kits left out of the last 5, then I will place the flamer on sale. Only one complete Nostromo kit remains (sorry that one is spoken for) and no more will be made unfortunately. The Helmet will also go up for auction, I hope to get close to the original price as it is a classic.

JT, man "loss of interest in Alien?" Wow, what gives? I hope you're making the right decision and will only have regrets while looking at Alien stuff in the future and not have remorses (those you cannot live with) Crying or Very sad

yeah it really sucks when my favorite movie starts to seem like star wars episode 1 I got tired all together.. I just came to the realization the ALIEN is not cool anymore Sad its become too mainstream and pop-culture it seems

There's always Soylent Green Smile

The sad fact is that everything good will be copied. Rarely the copies expand the depth of the original, but in most cases it seems to cheapen it. For every 'Empire Strikes Back' there are several 'Battle for the Planet of the Apes'. In the worst cases I can come away from seeing any of those with a kernel of something interesting. But, even if it is complete crap I find it even easier to just ignore and give no credence too.

Unfortunately people are mostly sheep and when they gather stuff gets messed up. I suppose we can all lock ourselves up and read and watch only the most esoteric material in order to stay true iconoclasts, but that would be pretty lonely.

In my mind the "Original" stuff never loses it's appeal to me, even after I realize it probably wasn't all that original to begin with. Just the first time I had seen something like it. I am often only addicted to that feeling of novelty which is an illusion. As the old cliche' goes "you never forget your first time".

If in the end though the appeal you have for a film or anything can be sullied by others, it might mean your feelings may not have been that genuine to begin with. I guess in that case it is a good thing to move on and leave it behind.

I hope you will stay on and talk Blade Runner stuff with us JT, at least until I write the Blade Runner sequel Wink

I am going to get rid of my ALIEN stuff and start collecting Blade runner. at least its still cool. My alien stuff seems kinda dorky now, like the fat little kids wearing "darth maul" shirts after episode1.

It's safe to say for the time being, nobody will be making any "Blade Runner" sequels. And that makes it cool and unique.

But it doesn't necessarily make us cool and unique. I know some very cool and unique people that still have toy light sabers. We should be doing this because we like it, not because we think it makes us look good. Honestly my BR collection makes me look like a complete dork, and I don't care. I can pass as cool when I am not talking about BR just fine, well maybe for a little while anyway Very Happy

Oh and by the way even though they didn't make any BR sequels, they did make a ton of movies based on BR like Brazil, The Matrix, Dark City, Soldier (written by David People and touted as a BR prequel), The Terminator, Akira (and a ton of other Anime), Johnny Mnemonic, The 9th Floor, and a ton more foreign movies. It ain't so unique any more, and I think it was only cool to ultra geeks to begin with. It doesn't stop me from loving it.

I'm with you Andy! Smile
I don't care that i'm a dork.
Blade Runner is a stunning movie and one of the few i can watch quite often.

I know what you mean though JT. All the sequels do make it a bit "mainstream" but i'll always love the original (and ALIENS)
Just pretend the predator movies weren't made Smile

A film is like a song, (or a woman); why are you touched by it? Is it because you were at a certain point in your life, or a certain mood, or...it's a complex question that has a simple answer: 'cause you fell in love

Sale here, I don't care what the others say or think about the movies (or art) (or books) (or music) I love...

Fred

PS : and regarding the ALIEN or SW sequels ? To me, they simply do not exist and I'm very happy with that. Simple, efficient, saves a lot of mind time to think about more interesting stuff...
