Hi there.
Just stumbled on this site and thought i'd say hello.
Looks my kind of place, being a SF modeller with Blade Runner and Alien both in my top 5 films.
Guess i'll be commentating and posting pics in good time, and thought i'd start with some shots of my Colonial Marine fatigues that i won in a Film Review comp shortly after Aliens came out.
They're real interesting in that they've never been washed - so still have concrete dust all over them and a foil from a fag packet in the top pocket - the patches are glued rather than stuck on, and the buttons are real flimsy affairs.
Have no idea who they belonged to in the film but would love to.

Hmmm... i did ponder on whether to post the pics, seeing as up till now all the threads are to do with Alien, but the header for this section does say "Alien franchise" so kinda figured it was all the films.
Thinking now i'm guessing it means "stuff to do with Alien".
So, sorry about that.
Have plenty to say and post about the one film so no worries there |

No go ahead, I like ALIENS too! Nice to see you here. Are you sure though that it's concrete dust on the fatigues and not asbestos from Acton Power Station??
Nice one, they look great.
I know you've been trying to find out who wore them on another board. Rather than look for where patches and name tags may have been, maybe look at the camo pattern itself and the orientation of it... for example, compare the orientation of the pattern on one of the chest pockets to that on a photo screenshot of actors wearing the fatigues. I'll try to look over the weekend and see if I can help.

Could have been worn by a stunt double.Maybe the reason for the glue on patches and cheapness? |

Yep, its a goal of mine to find out who the heck wore the things.
A lot of folk have pondered it over on the Alien Legacy and the only things that are definete are:
The person has a 38 - 40" chest,
34" waist,
a smoker,
and rough and tumbled a bit, judging by the state of them.
The stuck on patches, lack of name patch and no customising would suggest a stuntmans suit - but those buttons wouldn't hold things together for very long if it was.
A puzzle isn't it?
The camo pattern is very distinctive, making each suit unique and i've tried spotting left arm and leg patterns while watching the film but no joy so far.
If anyone would like to try for me (can't do screen grabs or any of that new-fangled stuff) i can post up specific areas of pattern if that'd help? |

I hope you do find out who did wore them.
Such cool items.
It's probably been said before, but Apone was a smoker?
I'm guessing he's been ruled out though? |

Mangamax;
Please post some pics of the front trouser pockets, then flatten out the top front and take a pic of that when you get the chance.
Thanks;
- Graham. |

Mangamax;
No real luck I'm afraid. At first I thought the trousers may belong to Vasquez; the location of some of the pattern orientation on her upper left leg is almost identical, but it doesn't match her left leg, though again the pocket on her right leg seems to match. But not enough to say definitively that they belonged to that character. I ignored the fact that they fit you and you are over 6ft tall, as she could have just tucked the bottom of the trousers into her boots even if they were a bit long.
I know they do not belong to Weirzbowski, you'll find pics of his uniform here.

Okay Graham - but thanks for your time in looking matey.
In a way, its neat that they've not been identified. Sure that means they could just have been a stuntmans - but they could've been a spare set for one of the main actors that just wasn't worn in the footage used.

Very interesting find you have Mangamax!
it looks very similar to the ripstop light weather BDU's we had issued over here in the military (about 1987 or so..been so long ago), just a different camo and color pattern.
do not let this one go, hang onto it for sure. |
