Well, it's signed by Mead...I don't think it was designed for BR.

Very difficult to say.
Would fit in with BR for sure, but I think I agree with J on this one.
Another great design by Mr Mead.

It is possible it was for BR. He did a ton of sketches for the cars, and there are a bunch for the Spinner in the BR sketchbook, but I have only seen a couple for the ground car. This could easily been one of the ones that was rejected. I didn't see a date on it though. You could always ask him through his website. He seems to answer his email from fans more than most.

I think it was from a Peter Hyams project called LA 2015 (around 1985). I have some photocopies of other stuff from the project. The sketches were in a Syd Mead book.

I have a couple pictures from the "LA 2015" street scene in my Syd Mead Studio Image book. I think you are right. I would love to see more of these pictures too. It sounds kind of like a Blade Runner rip off. I am surprised I never really heard that much of it before.

Here are a few scans of some of the 'photocopies' I have (I got these before scanners were a household item). The whole project does seem rather Blade Runner inspired. I think the Syd Mead books they were from were A3 sort of size and had a red and blue cover (there were two).

Many thanks 8th passenger for sharing these with us. Great design by the master! Love the cars and yes, looks like a "cleaner" version of BR in terms of overall look.

Yep, I have the top image from the "Blue" book or 'Studio Image 2'. There are a "Red" and "Green" Studio Image 1 and 3 too. Hyam's went on the make 2010, and later 'Time Cop'. His previous Sci-Fi included 'Capricorn 1' and one of my favorites 'Outland'. I take it this project got shelved before much of anything was done on it, because I can't find anything about it.

Here's one more I have erzuly. And these are the covers of the books which they are from. I don't have the books. Someone did me some copies of a few pages along time ago. These books are very expensive now looking on the internet. At the time they were about £30 each if I recall.

I got pretty lucky on picking up mine, they were being sold at the SF Yerba Buena gallery when Syd Mead was having an expo of his work there. One of the really cool things besides being able to look at his actual artwork up close, was they had a mock up of a futuristic hotel room he'd designed.

it was tricked out with a mock up of a computer console and a blaster that was very close to his BR blaster concept. The other thing they had was a full costume from one of his paintings.
