what about his barware...I think we got those.(Arnolfo di Cambio CIBI wiskey glass and United metal goods and/or maybe alesi shot glasses)
many pieces to the esper have been identified by Nick Darring...(the poloroid sonic sr-70)
His brief case is a Zero Halliburton...
I think sombody ID'd his coffee maker but I can't count that one. It is way too unimpressive for me as a prop...sorry
the pop up TV has been ID'd as a Panosonic(can't remember what model) |

like one one of those crazy square bowls with the turned up corners and an elephant (white tusks).....weird glass/plastic shapes that appear to be lit from the underside...
or somebody post a good screen capture of this ....please _________________ I've seen things ....you people appear to be intrested in ... |

I'll try and post some of my best and rarest apartment photos I have in my collection.
Several times I have tried to draw out a schematic of the Deckard apartment but keep running into little problems and never finish it.
I would love to see this thread turn into a documentation of the nooks and crannies of the apartment.
Here's the first set that focus mainly on the ESPER table and couch area.

I'm for that!
Great shots.
Looking at the last few i see the acrylic or glass rod and cone display. First thing I thought of was a vintage World's Fair glass souvenir that may have been a lamp or glass sculpt I came across when looking for the saturn lamp. I don't think it is the same but did trigger my ol'brain cells.
WFair logo map
NY WFair program
Card table from NY WFair
WFair salt n papper sahker. Aslo found pencil sharpners and paper weights. Pretty sure i've seen a vaseline glass sculpt of simialr. Do not recall anything that is crystal clear.
The odd screen above the rods and cones looks like one of those "super TV lenses" that have been around since the 1950's proving there are still suckers born every minute!
Andy, nice find on the "schematic" |

I'm also drawn to the chair back you see just beyond the cone/sphere/fresnel lense/carved elephant. Very interesting back design. probably as expensive as the Argyle |

The fresnel lenses intrigue me as well...especially the one with two sections in it. It might be one used for someone who is visually impared, but I have to find one exactly like it. |

Anyone know anything about the picture of, what looks like, a Japanese Courtier in Deckards hallway? (As he chases Rachel to the door)
My quest for this involved emailing screencaps to over 50 Japanese and Asian art specialists located at various Universities, Museums and Institutes across USA, Japan and Europe. They all, very graciously, took time to reply but none of them could identify the image. The main consensus was that the painting was comtemporary but made to look like an antique.
Also worth mentioning is that in Future Noir it states that a book entitled 'High Tech' was used as inspiration for the apartments furnishings.
Now I own a copy of this book but the only item in it that looks like anything in Decks place is a fabric that closely resembles his bed linen.
The company responsible for it's manufacture is now defunct. |

Back to the 'High Tech' book by Joan Kron.
I'm assuming that this is the book that is mentioned in Future Noir. The authors actually coined the phrase 'High Tech'. The book ( and the industrial look it describes ) were very popular around the time that BR was in production. Anyhow theres a copy here in its original jacket.

Intriquing stuff. Do you have a scan of the linens form the book?

OK, it's been a while since i looked through this stuff, so prepare to be totally underwhelmed!
IF this book is the 'High Tech' referred to in Future Noir (I think it probably is) then it contains quilted material that looks a lot like Deckard's pillows not his bed linen. Anyhow heres a screengrab and the two relevant scans.

Target was selling quilts for students in that texture in different colors(including black), but all they had left were twin size I should have bought one any way because they were on sale. So the fact is they are out there and affordable. They did make queen and full size versions too...no king if I remember correctly. But they were almost identical to the movie pattern. This was in the fall when all the back to school stuff was on sale. |

Bit more on Deck's bedding.
I didn't have a clue what a 'mover's quilt' was but after a couple of Google searches i've discovered that they are more commonly referred to as 'moving blankets' (sometimes furniture pads).
Anyhow it seems they are quite commonplace in the USA (i'm a Brit) and are widely available with that double zig zag design. I can't seem to find the exact pattern in black though (although this doesn't really pose a problem)
So it's just a matter of ordering a few then getting someone to make you up a couple of pillow cases and a duvet cover (and possibly dying them black!) I suppose they were made especially for the film from similar material.
heres a couple of links

A nice comfortable...moving blanket. Warning; they are not made from very soft material. I have a small stack of them in my storage closet, its always nice to find out you have prop replica just lying around. I suppose I'll toss one on the couch for some BR aesthetic. _________________ Wait; I'm having one of those things! You know; a headache with pictures? |
