Thanks for sharing...not bad at all for that price. Too bad we don't see the inside of the collar.

I love costume base, most of there stuff is pretty good for the price, again not totally screen accurate but still a great store.

Considering how prominent and how much of a key feature the ribbed collar is on this coat, I seems like they've shot themselves in the foot by not showing it. But then again, if they're not doing the ribbed quilting, then maybe they wouldn't want to point that out.

If the piece had the ribbing, it would be worth looking at.

There's a couple pics in the auction of the ribbing.

The whole coat:

That's odd.

I emailed the seller asking if they had any pics of the inside of the collar and they said no.

And just to add: Over the years they have improved many of there more popular items, so if this starts to sell well and they make a new batch they may just improve the design.

The collar is ribbed, but not with the deep grooves of the original design.

I bought an 'Obi Wan Kenobi' costume from Costumebase a few years ago, when I was cosplaying the character. I found them to be very good. If you're starting off, I'd recommend them, never had any problems, certainly with shipping for example. John.

I'm going to pop out of my long time lurker state to ask if anyone here ever picked up one of these coats?

I'm thinking about ordering one for Halloween. Any reviewers out there?

Cheers everyone

I don't have this item but have ordered a few things from costumebase over the years. They are a cosplay level of quality, not accurate enough to be used unaltered by a serious costumer but a nice place to start and good work for the money. With a little weathering and maybe some alteration to the collar ribbing it would be a pretty nice coat.

Here's the complete outfit minus the pants and shoes.
Not bad for the price.

Thanks for the info guys.

sethb6025; I can't say I'm too familiar with the typical quality level of costumes made primarily for cosplaying. I know you can't speak specifically for this coat, but would you say something from costumebase would hold up as a "real" piece of clothing? i.e. something that you could wear somewhat regularly and throw in the washing machine from time to time, or would it be more like something you get out of a plastic bag at a Halloween shop? Something in between?

Obviously I would prefer something super accurate, but for Halloween this year, I'm sure anybody else at the neighbor/company costume parties won't know any better - even if I will Wink.

Other than costumebase, Abbyshot is pretty much the only other source for a Deckard trench these days right?

No problem, the construction is good, the fabrics aren't necessarily the correct weight or exact color. I recently got a Lost jumpsuit from them custom fit and it was very well made and the fabric was perfect, the pattern nearly dead on. I had modified a Battlestar Galactica flightsuit from them and while some of the patterning was iffy it was well constructed. You could probably wear it regularly with no trouble. The trenchcoat is something that would probably start to look better the more wear it gets.
