Hello all.
I am a bit of a film watch fan too (although i of course freely admit that BR is by far the best SF film ever too!)
i managed to get a few bond watches before the prices went sky high and by a lucky brake got this too. Its not nearly in the near mint conditon as the one on ebay we all wanted and the strap is the wrong colour but it does work including the light. Its in the kind of conditon which means i am not to scared to wear it somtimes. No one has noticed the BR link yet!
sorry for the shocking picture, i will try and take some better ones it you are interested?

I sold a mint one of these (black and gold) 2 years ago for $200, on ebay. Fully working too. I can't believe how much this has gone for. The seller of this watch must be over the moon! |

Thanks
I have worn it relatively often for a year or so and like i said no-one has noticed it as being anything other than an old digital watch..
Its the same with the bond watches no-one has ever noticed that it was in a film, personally i always look at peoples watches!
i have also been looking for a screen correct strap since i have had it with no luck!
I will put a post in the non BR forum of my other film watches. I haven’t bought any for a while mainly because i get a bit nervous about spending real money on a watch that is basically un-reparable... |

There is another Microma watch just posted on eBay. Since I'm the fool who bid 5500. To win the last one there is the other person who bid it up to 3350. That still wants one. This will be fun to, um , er, watch |

Chew- funny, I do not plan to bid on this as mine works and this one does not. My band is the same size too, I counted the links to confirm and it fits me fine but I am somewhat short and slender.
Also, it looks like anyone who has one of these is looking to make some quick cash. I predicted this would happen based on my crazy bid.
Since this company is no longer in business, it sure would be cool if somebody started to replicate this watch as a Blade Runner tribute watch. I wonder if this would be legal? |

Well, replicate a watch in 100% accuracy maybe ilegall, IMHO. But... who knows. Other projects were more difficult and some did it.
But... how many watches are worth to build for the BR community? 100? 200? 500? I think this is not a long run enough for a watches factory (I don't know, but I figure it).
No matter. Lurkers, we are *ever* in the shadows... waiting... waiting... Patience is a must when budget is a matter.
And ebay begins to be the worst place to locate nice items at right place. Too much vendors are learning the collectible and collectors habits and crazy practices... So, I'm turning to other places for better choices!! _________________

I'm with you on that one Joan...besides, as somebody who attended many auctions in his lifetime, I can say for certainty that most of the items offered for sale end up overpriced just because somebody WANTS the item no matter its cost. In the end it never represent the "real" value of said item. Of course, as we know, as soon as an item becomes popular or in demand by a small but rabid segment of society this item is going to reach ridiculous prices and in the case of Ebay fraudsters wanting to make a quick buck (try to get an original Graflex for cheap today ). |

Same with other items and collections joberg... I'm a slide-rule collector as well, not so obssesive as with BR, but... well, I have more than 100 pieces now... and some were overpriced at all... but learning curve is easy. Not buy the first... never!! In this topic also is important to be cold. Some guys simply pay whatever price find... and then this results in more overpriced stuff... so... waiting and watching for long time is the way... and then, some nice item appears at right price.
Well, I'm working in a tiny new web site for collectors. All kind of. From stamps and coins to Ferrari cars (haha). Auction practices will have a place, no doubt. Oh, for now I'm working in it only in Spanish, but... who knows... In fact several months ago I've started an English project as well (from the reading of Saving Stuff book, a great reference).
Time... is the matter, ever! _________________

Another black one is gone....
Now it appears there's only one more high roller left without a microma....
Hopefully, the listings will continue. |

The problem now is with several going for high prices, speculators will now be getting in on the game and driving the prices on these across the board. A lot of them may not even have an idea on why the prices jumped on these, they just want in on the action.
