Nor should it! Good luck with it. I don't make props myself I'm just here as a BR fan who likes to examine the detail in the film but I'm always amazed at the work you fellas do.

I know there are suggestions as to what the bottles original use may have been on the Tsing Tao thread but here's another one - could it have been a decanter maybe?

Nice find, Beast!

The more eyes we have out there, the more likely we'll find it (if it still exists).

Hey Precinct...thanks for the incouragement! I think someone at sometime came up with the decanter idea but the main thing is they were never able to come up with a decanter that matched...are you looking for us all in England? Very Happy

VERY nice find Beast!

Oldzey---
I think you have really hit upon something there with the "networking" idea and I have been thinking about this for a while now so bare with me.

Has anyone stopped to think about why these bottles have been so hard to find? I think it's mostly due to the fact that everyone seems to be looking strictly for themselves!
What if there was a way for us all to JOINTLY look for these bottles and for us all to JOINTLY gain from the finding of them?

My friend Jay and I are thinking about starting a website for the sole purpose of locating these bottles, trace the places looked, and then when they ARE located, duplicate them so that anybody who wants one can have one...what do you think?

I'll pass on anything I find. There's an art college here where I live (same one I attended actually) they have a sculpture department that does its own bronze castings, not sure if they have a glass blowing department. I'll have to look into it, if they do, there's a good chance some student might need a little extra cash in exchange for a custom piece.

I did some research on bottle styles and the "mouth" or spout of the bottle resembles a wine bottle or any cork stopper bottle. Decanters tend to have flared mouths that are wider. Most wiskey Bottles have screw tops way back to before the 50's. Same with most modern medicinal bottles.

Listerine used to come in glass bottles, are we sure this isn't just a "before they made them in plastic" listerine bottle? The kind of thing most folks threw away back in the 70's and 80's?

Sad

We're reasonably sure it's not. Unless someone in the production was able to get their hands on some rejected Listerine bottle designs, the BR bottles are not close enough to any known Listerine bottle.

ok a few more sugestions from forums is that it could be a cleaning product bottle like amonia bottle for example. Another suggestion is that it's a fancy water bottle.

But the bottle definately isn't plastic right?

I have to wonder if it isn't some kind of decanter. It does seem to have a stopper and not a screw on cap, which most liquor bottles have screw on caps. As for it being plastic, that's open to debate, some people have said that the ones seen in the background shots could be plastic, while the one seen in close ups is glass. I don't ever remember seeing ammonia in a bottle that looked like that out here.

I did come across two bottles that are similar in design however.

or an olive oil bottle like this?

I never really thought of it as a wine bottle as most wine bottles are round and rarely square.

It's exciting to see all the new interest in figuring out the JW bottle. With the vodka bottle done there are only a scant few item left to hunt down.

While most liquor bottles do have screw caps high end whiskey and other often have the cork bottle. I drink Glenlivet and it has a cork. I've seen a few others that have a cork as well.

I spent a bit of time looking through bottle collections on the bay last night with no luck. This is gonna be a hard search but anything is possible with a pile of nerds like us at the job. Smile

I just keep doing simple key word serches on Google every now and then and hope I will come up with a hit. Very tedious, but it may pay off with at least some more info sometime. I do think there are some people that already know the origin of the bottle but arent telling untill they got a few of them. No matter what it is it is pretty rare and my usual resources are tight lipped on it. Either because they don't know anything, or just not willing to let lose yet with the info.

I think a scotch is a very good possiblility especially since they often come in clear bottles as oppesed to brown or green. My searches for scotch bottles have also come up with some similar shaped bottles, but only superficially

I think the Listerine Bottle theory has been covered.
I personally REMEMBER when listerine Bottles were glass and believe me they were round not square. I think there has been some confusion on this point due to the new Listerene Plastic bottles sort of resembling the BR Johnny Walker Bottle.
Also remember that we didn't see them unscrew the lid from this bottle...it seemed like they kinda just pulled it off the smooth top.

Yes indeedy! So you caught me sniffing around the bottle forums then? Wink

Not even the experts can identify this! Someone suggested that if it's using the brand Johnny Walker, than maybe it could have been made for the movie by johnny walker? Highly unlikely in my opinion.

Actually...what I said was that since they used the Johnny Walker Label in the movie , wouldn't they have HAD to ask the Johnny Walker Companies permission? Wouldn't they know SOMETHING?
I guess that it's more likely that J.W. was a paying sponser to get there name brand in the movie.
