Thanks Fred...yes, I cannot wait to get a coat of primer on that one.
In the mean time I should stop looking at pictures of the V.K.: everytime I do, I'm discovering something I missed Crying or Very sad .
So I'm re-building the back of the machine and tweeking the arm once more (last time Confused ) and making sure that the eye piece will fit properly.

Well, here's part of the eye piece...lots of work to be done before it's finished.

The little piece at the right will have to be centered at the left of the eye; it's just lying there for the moment...

Nick you may be right on that one; I put it in this thread just to have a quick comparaison between my build and Mike Fink prop...and compare it also to the U.K. one (the one I don't like).

If the mods wants it in its own thread, I have no problem with it Wink

Thanks Tim, tryin' not to go nuts with the additional info from TS...I'll have to modify the face and finish the eye, wich is the most difficult piece to build Wink

Sorry Beastmaster, went there, got burned and got the scars to show after that debacle Crying or Very sad This machine will be, for years to come (I don't think someone will produce a fully working one, let alone a kit) something that will be, but for a precious few, a dream.

Even if a reputable company would tackle the producing of V.K. replicas, the price would be prohibitive...I figured around $3000 at least and a very small run at that. Market studies will be paramount to get that product off the ground. Who's willing to pay that price? Not the masses that's for sure. When you do "niche" products, it's going to be expensive, period Confused

Too much work, to much electronics and too much danger of having broken parts, therefore a nightmarish product for said company producing it. As for the 3 T.V. screens, they'll run into probs if they try to export it to other countries with different T.V. systems/currents, etc...

But my main question is this: where is the original prop?..and how can you produce something accurate without the actual machine/blue-prints, etc. A number of fans will never be satisfied with the product because of that lack of accuracy (and the price-tag attached to it) Confused

If someone wants to tackle that prop in the words of Ash: "You have all my sympathy".

I re-did the face of the prop (as per Tom's pic) and put the eye in place.

More to come of course

This baby will be ready to be painted soon and after that, I'll have to add the little details like the V.K. logo near the eye piece as well as at the front of the machine. I'll photocopy the logo on top also to repro the fonts that Tom showed us to be on a metal piece on top of the big screen.

As for the graphics on that folding "drawer" at the front, I'll have to improvise on that one.

AWESOME work on that eye, JB !!!

Cool

I know it wouldn't canon, but looking at your photos I told myself a white VK would be very cool, it would have a "medical tool" vibe that would made it more creepy...

Shocked

Fred

Great minds think alike I actually thought about a medical V.K. also...maybe like those med-tools in the Nostromo Wink

I think the appropriate white suitcase with that one could add to the "creepy" factor.
