|
|
Since i'm planning on doing a number of upgrades and mods to my Tomenosuke kits I thought a new thread for these was in order. Some of these photos have already been posted in other threads but here they will all be together.
Of course the first thing was to replace the plastic barrel with a steel one. Cut it off with a hacksaw.
Then mill the stub flush to the front of the frame.
The second prototype steel barrel, before drilling and tapping.
And a few more later...
The barrel just plugs into the front of the frame, no glueing required.
Here's the blued first prototype barrel.
And a test assembly with the steel barrel. I like the look of it!
My plan, for now, is to build one kit to look like the World Con blaster and one polished metal with clear grips. But that could change... _________________ Dave

I was asked by a member if I was planning on turning steel posts to replace the black plastic one. The post provided with the kit is actually metal, and soaking it in plain white vinegar for a couple of hours took off the black finish revealing a grey steel color. It may polish up ever better but I've not tried that yet. Here's a before and after pic.

Looking great Dave.
I can't wait to have the time spare to have a crack at mine.
Looking forward to seeing what else you have up your sleeve for yours, though...

Looking mighty good Dave (as usual ) The variations are numerous with that gun, now with the barrel, the grips, the post, etc... |
