TFS Staar and yes, this look like an industrial accident in design 
While the other design looks a lot like DaveG plates...been done (maybe that's why they didn't do it?).

Other than the shadow box I think mine are very good, the contact point is under the barrel just in front of the post and just behind the back trigger.
With the amount of lean even my heavy metal model is very stable.
On my displace case the trigger post is a foot for the butt plate.
There is a light contact where the model leans against the stand.

They mention that in their commentary Clutch so there is nothing untoward there.
It appears that they considered approaching the original designer for permission but ultimately decided to go in another direction..

Hi Rich... There are some cool blaster stands around. I like your (RACPROPS) display stand design. Very simple and effective. Suits other Blade Runner Blasters as well. Can also affix a plaque onto it.  |

I reckon yours is pretty cool Rich and versatile for their requirements. They seen yours?..... See if they will mass produce it / with a TomPRO plaque or etched TomPRO into the stand option.... Royalties maybe?  |

They did not when they used one of my models to help them built their first model.

Not their finest moment, agreed.
There are so many different approaches to a stand for this blaster, I wonder why they went down that particularly huge, bulky, clumsy road.
It stands really awkwardly, gazing skyward, like Napoleon Dynamite in a Tux....

It isn't really all that bad. I think we gave it some honest criticism in the beginning, but in the end it seems to do the job well enough. I don't think it is a failure, just a bit of what we used to call "Overkill".

I think we'll have to agree to disagree Andy,
I think it's filthy ugly.
The primary issue for me, apart from the 'belt and braces' enthusiastic engineering, is that the blaster points skyward.
It's a 'safe' or 'surrender' position.
I don't want my blasters safe

I look at this stand over and over again, and I can see how it could be made so much simpler, with less plastic, no obscuring of the gun at all, and still do the same thing. I can also see that if this thing is not made to the exact specs every time, the gun will not fit right and the stand will have an issue sitting flat on the table. It uses to different ways of making a base, the flat that sits under the grip, and the fold in the front. It means you have essentially 3 lateral points that all need to line up or this thing will be unsteady. Even if you exclude the things proper was talking about, which may come down to cultural differences, this thing is still bad design. I may post up some photos to show what I am talking about.

One factor I had to watch out for was how much leaning back to handle the weight of a all metal model.
So I also have to be sure of enough base to insure a steady base.
And I made room for a plaque.
