...Those that wait

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=002&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=120131833412&rd=1&rd=1

And from those that see a 'S' as an '8'

It seems slightly smaller than my 344 scope knob. I kind of like that one better. Since the scope is toast (and not a family heirloom) I have no feelings of guilt stripping it for parts though.

Congrats Andy!

It took me quite a few months of looking after your discovery to find a reasonable 344 scope after the 29Ss kept going up, up and away on price but you're right - good things come to those who wait.

When you figure you're getting 2 knobs though, it makes it a little easier to justify the price.

I saw that myself - there were actually two "298s" listed. I missed one altogether and fell asleep in front of my TV waiting to snipe the one you won - lol.

Nice score!

Do you have an extra knob? I'd split the cost of the auction with you if you're willing to part with one.

Thanks for considering,
Oldzey

P.S. I've bought two Model 344s off eBay but both had knobs that were well worn. Luckily, I paid about what you did - I've seen those 29s go for big bucks.

there is one now mis-listed too. If you don't get one let me know. I will part with one no problem, especially in trade for another 344 so I can keep my grandfather's intact.

For your consideration:

Two Weaver 344 scopes - the bottom one is the better of the two and has a much clearer lens. They both have the crosshairs intact.

Closeup of the knobs - you can see the patterns have worn away. I rotated it so that it wouldn't take up as much space but you can see that the bottom one in the first photo is on the left.

Thanks for considering a trade - let me know what you think is fair - all I've been after is that darn elusive knob for my Sidkit! Cool

Regards,
oldzey

I will see what I can figure out for you. I don't have my calipers handy though.
