It’s the latest from Stephen Laboyteaux of ALIEN Environmental Suit fame! Very Happy

ALIEN Emergency Helmet!

You recall this from the opening scene of ALIEN, where the Nostromo computer wakes up and the two helmets appear to be "talking" to each other. (the helmets are there throughout the movie but that's their big scene).

These are not actually for sale, it was just a small run he did for some friends. I contributed by drawing the many registration marks and decals that cover the helmet.

Superb!

That's awesome! Is this based off screen caps or real prop? For some reason the markings remind me of Roy Battys tattoos!

Thanks! Based off of an original helmet I should think. The markings are various electrical engineering symbols and registration marks from Letraset dry transfer sheets.

It's amazing that, once you start looking for them, you find those helmets all over the damn film.

Also, it's kind of inexplicable why there's a RIPLEY nameplate where the white spacesuit was hanging. They can't possibly have white suits for all seven astronauts in that little closet. Shocked

It's almost as if the set dresser had read the script!

Yes, they really are like wire coat hangers, aren't they?

A fantastic build, and thank you for sharing these detailed pics.

You wouldn't have any photos of the building process? Though I am not in the least in the position to ask...

Cheers,

Jens

Merciful Zeus!

Having made my own modest attempt at one of these I am almost moved to tears to see it so lovingly recreated. Thank you very much for sharing!

Man, that came out looking amazing!
I've always loved the odd look of this helmet. Too bad there won't be more of them. It would make an excellent companion piece to the AES helmet.
