Jack Neville and I provided four different labels for eyes for the Chew set but I have never seen any of them while watching the film. The one seen in the film may have been produced by the prop master or decorator or even created on the spot by order of Sir Ridley Scott.
I can't get my hands on those unseen four right now but remind me in late October and I'll post them here.

WOW, Tom, if there's a possibility to see those label designs, it would be truly amazing, and really something that would give this project authenticity....

I'll post a reminder in late October

This is turning out to be an interesting project.

On the surface this seems like quite a simple prop to replicate. Illuminated base, Container, eyeball, graphic.

But the more you look into it, more layers are revealed. More options there are to to pursue (sorry sounding a bit like Yoda there!).

I look forward to seeing how your build progresses Anders.

Yep, simple on the surface, but as soon as you've scratched the first layer, you'll discover more under that one...Thanks Tom for the info and looking forward to see what you had cooked up for that scene
Anders, we have Japanese speaking members here that could also translate more accurately your text. Eager to see the rest of your project come to life.

As for the frost, a number of techniques are used to simulate it, but it seems that baking soda is the preferred route, that mixed with transparent glue/sprayed glue

Christmas came early this year!

Yesterday I received a mail from Mr. Tom Southwell with pictures of labels he desigend for eye containers in Blade Runner. I’m posting the photos here with his permission, so you guys can enjoy them as well – they’re beautiful! I don’t believe they have been posted before?

But they also present me with a dilemma. Should I make my eyeball container with this newly discovered design:

Or the design seen on screen:

Or perhaps a fusion of the two? Using the new text along with the ”Forever” sign?

I’ll need to think about this. What would you guys do?

BTW I had help identifying the signs on the "Human" label if anybody would like to use it for their own prop:

Serial No 参八五九二奌壱 M (38592.1 M)
Diameter 零奌七五零零壱 cm (0.75001cm)
Circumference 弍奌参五五零 cm (2.3550 cm)
Color 青 (blue)
Species 人間 (human)

Again, thanks to Tom Southwell for sharing these. I hope you will enjoy Very Happy

Thanks Tom for sharing those with us Cool

Anders, if I were you, I would do the one from the movie and one with Tom's design (pig, sheep, etc). I think it would be cool to have many containers since it's an eye lab Wink

Joberg, I think that's exactly what I'm going do... One screen edition, and one Southwell edition... That will also allow me to do different types of eyes... Have started working on the human eye again and it's looking better this time Will post pictures soon.

I also had help from the kind people on http://www.chinese-forums.com to identify the signs on the clear stand on which the yellow box stands.... It's not 100% certain because the signs are difficult to see, but they could be: 现出 (according to online dictionaries this means "to appear", but want to check with the guys on the Chinese forum)

Yes, the labels Tom provided are amazing, and I will need to replicate one of them at least....

For now I have the draft for the screen label, think it turned out quite nice. As it's not possible to see the signs on the yellow box on screenshots, Iv'e used the text from Toms labels under the "Forever" sign Does somebody have the blu ray edition of the movie and would be willing to check if the signs on the box are visible there?

So this is it...

Feel free to use it with your own prop Very Happy Sorry for the size....

Thanks, guys Very Happy

It's time for another small update.... I got the labels for the container from the printshop today. They did a very nice job printing the design as stickers. Here are some pictures of the stickers and after they have been applied to the container. I'm quite happy with the result so far.

It's a whole other story with the eye itself. I'm not happy with the way it turned out. I'm getting more confident working with the latex and moulding translucent tissue around the eye, but the eye I started with was a real human glass eye, which means that it wasn't round but more a semi spherical shell. So it lacks the spherical look of an actual eye. It look flat, and weird. I've decided to start over with the eye, and buy a new spherical glass eye ball from Germany, same quality as a real glass eye. Will be fun to work with....
